This place was great when run by Meaghan then they brought in a woker and the place went down hill. They have a rat problem and when one jammed my AC unit they wouldnt let a service guy in to fix it. When I questioned this policy they evicted my, so if you have nice equipment stay away.
I also tried to reach the head office and they failed to to even respond, this place has extremely bad business practices, bad employee attitude starts at the top and it clearly runs down hill. Meaghan was an asset the new one not so much.

The storage lockers are very clean , dry and secure.
The grounds are very well kept .
But what makes this storage company and location better than all others , is the staff !!!!

We have used the Pacific Rim Storage facility in Shawnigan Lake to winter our RV and it is a very clean and organized facility and is in a great location not far from Victoria. We have had amazing service here and will definitely return in the fall. I would highly recommend to anyone needing extra storage.

I was so happy to find Pacific Rim storage for my RV for 2 months. They were so easy to deal with, flexible around my needs and provided a wonderful, easy to access, spot for my RV. I was worried about mice but they assured me that there would be no mice and they were right. I will definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone who is looking for secure, affordable and accessible storage.

My experience thus far with Meg at Pacific Rim Storage in Mill Bay has been great. She has facilitated a great storage locker for my needs and made a difficult process easier. The access to the storage locker is drive up and unload simple. Just bring your lock and make sure your go slow with your vehicle.

PRS - Mill Bay. A pleasure to deal with every time I called. I had a trailer storage here, that was safe and secured, nice wide spots compared to other storage places. I would deal with them again for my storage needs.

We recently moved from New Mexico to Vancouver Island in a 23-foot motorhome. Our neighbourhood is like a big, beautiful residential garden. Not surprisingly, the local Strata has a rule about not storing recreational vehicles in driveways or parking on the street. The Mill Bay location of Pacific Rim Storage was the solution to the RV storage problem, conveniently located, affordable, secure, and with friendly staff. The RV has found a new home in the USA, but we continue to use Pacific Rim to store boxes of goods in a temperature-controlled locker. We would recommend Pacific Rim Storage to anyone.

Stored important personal items as well as a motorcycle for 9 months over the winter. When I removed everything, it was all in perfect condition and just I had left it. Very secure and reliable, leak free storage! Would store here again if needed.

Clear gravel area for Campervan parking. Easy access off the highway. The staff were lovely to communicate with. Felt very comfortable leaving our camper there for the winter

Always accommodating my requests and changes through the many years of storing my belongings...
I like this facility as they are temperature controlled, with brick walls and sealed bottom doors, large and tall.
They have ample room for RVs, many new lockers on the property and security that lives on site. I highly recommend this facility to keep your items safe and sound year round! Thanks again to the staff! :)

I rented 3 storage units from Pacific Rim Storage when we moved recently. All the units were in a very good and clean condition. There is lots of room for a moving truck to drive between the buildings and right up to the units.
The office staff were very courteous and professional.
I would recommend Pacific Rim Storage for your storage needs.

Great service, clean and updated storage units. Ownership takes pride in quality in all areas. Office staff are friendly and reply back very quickly and do their best to accommodate. Been using their facility for 4 years and has always been great. This is the best place for storage. Great options as well. Top notch security as well.

My partner and I recently got a storage locker for a couple of weeks to store some items for our wedding. We had a great experience with the staff at Pacific Rim, they were able to help us through the rental process even though we live in Victoria! We were able to do everything over the phone and via email. The storage locker itself was a great size, clean and just what we needed :)

I rented a storage locker from Pacific Rim Storage for over a year and a half, during a turbulent time in my life. Throughout this period, all staff, especially Megan, my go-to person, were always professional, informative, helpful and understanding. Megan took my concerns seriously (e.g. storing a grand piano) and went out of her way to find solutions and answers to my questions. I appreciated her clear and timely communication and her resourceful, kind approach whenever we were in contact. I would recommend this facility, as it is well looked after, clean, easily accessible and secure. Management is excellent and responsive. I would use Pacific Rim Storage again for keeping my belongings safe, especially during times of uncertainty.

Rite Storage Risk Assessment
Security

• The main gate is open and there is currently no check-in procedure so anybody can come and go as they please.
• There is minimal camera surveillance
• The doors to building B are chained wide open so anybody can walk in. There’s no stopping a thief entering with a stolen vehicle or stolen plate (they’re thieves!) and doing whatever they want for as long as they want. There are no interior security cameras!
• The individual security of many of the lockers is dismal at best. Many doors have only 2 hinges which are the cheapest interior hinges available, a thief could pull the hinges in seconds. The hinges are missing screws. The hasps are cheap and not professionally mounted.
• I never walked the perimeter but I’m fairly certain it has no security.
• When asked about access on a day when the office is closed was told they kept a key under the mat. They didn’t ask if I was a tenant, they just told me.

Other Issues

• Because of the archaic, manual security protocols and systems, access is only available during daytime business hours while staff is there so if you have a job, you can’t go during the week unlike most other storage facilities which are open till 9 or 10 PM.
• They do a very poor job at clearing snow in winter so you’ll need a 4 wheel drive at those times when there’s snow.

Conclusion

We were with Mill Bay Self Storage for several years before Rite Storage bought it and although some of these problems existed then, the monthly rates were reflective of the service. Having said that they never allowed access to non-renters. There were more secure systems in place. Since Rite took over, rates have increased 61% with a diminishment in service. The only ‘Improvements’ are an increase in rentable area for vehicles (more money for Rite) and some paint on some doors.

If you are storing items that have any value to you I would recommend not using this facility, it’s not worth the risk. Have you ever heard of a storage facility with an open door policy?
