The food is great, I really loved how well seasoned the pork belly was. The HK french toast was great too.

The tea selection is fantastic, Dong Ding Wulong tea pairs well with the french toast and the Silver Needle white tea is a little floral and peachy. I would come back mid day when it's not busy just to drink tea and chat with a friend or read a book.

The waiters were very friendly and welcoming. It would be nice if there was a hook under the table or a basket to place your bag/purse in.

Amazing restaurant with a rich history! Their French Toast and Pork Belly Sando were sooooo good - Ham and Egg Sando was good as well. Textures were impressive. Definitely coming back.

Delicious food, good portions, friendly service, and beautiful space with plenty of seating. I came for brunch and I loved the avocado breakfast sando -- it was THE BEST breakfast sandwich I've ever had and I'm still thinking about it!! I also loved the chocolate cookie (baked to order) and the HK milk tea was good. I'll definitely come back for brunch again and I'm curious about the afternoon tea and taco tasting experiences.

Brunch reservations are highly recommended on weekends.

Gerry and Mandy are amazing people and they have a great team with them. There is a lot of tasty choices on the menu. I really recommend the Avocado Rosti Sando and the Hong Kong French toast.

If you are ever in need of freshly made tortillas to make your own tacos they also make them fresh daily

Excellent food! The sorrowful plate was just phenomenal and the French toast with the house maple syrup another home run , the pork sandwich was tasteful but not the BBC star of the show

Will very be back to try other dishes and we the way those birds were air drying in the fridge I’d probably wanna try a dinner as well

Loved our cocktails as well

Great folks as well

Went for a Sunday brunch with my wife. We ordered their signature sandos (pork belly + avocado rosti), which were both beautifully flavored and balanced, and the brussels salad to share (nice crunch!). The Thai Milk Tea was a standout beverage. We indulged with the HK french toast (excellent and not overly sweet!) which I haven't had in many years - and brought back some good memories.

The atmosphere and decor were wonderful; it was very easy to have a nice conversation while also having a view of the open kitchen.

The couple that owns/runs the place obviously love their craft and are executing it with care and excellence. Will definitely return to try their dinner offering sometime!

i wanted to try BOTH of their signature sandwiches but i couldn’t decide so i ordered the avocado rosti sandwich and just added pork belly — AMAZING decision. the pork belly was salty, had a good balance of fattiness and lean (but maybe bit tough/hard to chew off?) meat, which was DELICIOUS with that baked salty cheese skirt and OOZING smooth egg yolk. the avocado was also amazingly creamy and fresh and the oily classic fried egg taste was so good with the yolkiness spilling all over and the potato rosti was crispy perfection. it was truly a fantastic symphony of flavours AND TEXTURES.

i had also wanted to try the unique scotch egg sando foreVERR and pranced at the opportunity when they brought it back for the weekend. the first thing you notice is the freshness of the crunchy cold cabbage and the sweetness of the sauce — i don’t know why, but the sauce reminded me of this very classic sweet japanese flavour. the minced sausage was salty and savoury and meaty and fried with a slight crispy crunch, and it wrapped around the soft jiggly mild egg with its rich flavours. i thought the other sandwich was more satisfying and memorable, but this was also really interesting!!

the hk french toast was ALSO A SMASH — not only was the FLUFFY, soft texture absolutely incredible, the creamy milky sweet filling oozing out also really elevated it and set it apart from regular hk french toasts. other small details, like the slight saltiness of the butter and the egginess of the bread, and the very sweet honey-like syrup on the side, made this such a nice treat to end the meal with. i also really really loved how hot and steaming it was.

service was really friendly and welcoming and warm, and the environment is quite nice and classy!!

Alma+Gil is a great little no fuss brunch spot. The menu is limited but had dishes for both savoury or sweet palettes. It seemed to have a lot of Asian influences.
I tried the potato puffs (my favourite), radish cakes (also yum!), the avocado sando, and finished off with a match tiramisu for dessert.
I will definitely be back to try the other dishes!

A very lovely place to have breakfast. The Avocado Rost and Pork Belly Sando were fantastic, as was the French toast. Very friendly service! We are happy to have discovered this café on our trip through Canada.

We had such a great brunch here! The food was absolutely delicious, with lots of Hong Kong influences that made it special. The HK-style French Toast was outstanding.

The owner is super friendly – we even had a nice chat about music festivals. The whole place feels very welcoming and beautifully decorated.

Since we stayed right next door at Sonder Apartments, it was the perfect start into the day. Highly recommended!

Cute cafe/brunch place!

Nice interior with lots of plants.

I guess this is a HK inspired cafe. They have a bunch of HK milk tea, buns, etc. Friendly staff.

The sandos were good. The porkbelly was kinda dry.

The place can get smoky and hurt my eyes.

PORK SANDO
- juicy
- strong pork flavour, so if youre not a huge fan of pork, it's not recommended. But otherwise it's amazing!

AVOCADO SANDO
- CRUNCHY!
- great take on a classic brunch sandwich
- crispy fried cheese puts an amazing texture on each bite
- hash browns in the sandwich

RADISH CAKES
- if you've never had this, it's not sweet like you might know other cakes to be. It's a warm savoury dish, garnished with bean sprouts
- a little too liquidy on the inside
- texture didn't fit too well with me but my only other reference is homemade and from congee queen.

EGG SANDO
- not too eggy in flavour, no overpowering boiled egg smell or flavour
- creamy and flavourful

HK MILK TEA SLUSHY
- it's sweet so if you're not a sweet tooth, I wouldn't recommend
- perfect during the heatwave
- milk foam on top, tastes like ice cream!
- they offer free refills but be sure to ask beforehand as it's not listed on the menu

HK FRENCH TOAST
- also not too sweet, come with a side of maple syrup if you want it sweeter
- custard filling and butter on top
- I'm not a huge fan of butter so I wasn't too in love with it
- super crispy edges

ATMOSPHERE AND SERVICE
- super friendly and attentive staff
- asked if refills were wanted as soon as they noticed your drink was running low
- music in space is FUN, lots of varieties of music, Chinese, Spanish, English
- lighting is nice during the day, lots of natural sunlight. Other brunch places are too dark sometimes

Second visit to this "pop-up". Quality is consistent, and it's always nice to have a place that serves brunch that is not the usual fare. The sorrowful rice is a Chinese BBQ pork paired with rice, veggies, and a fried egg, a la the Stephen Chow film, but is actually good and not gimmicky. The sandwich is also delicious with quality ingredients. A bit on the pricey side but worth it.

I loved this special Chicken Parmesan Sando. A lightly toasted brioche bun is slathered with a tangy mayo, and clearly it's trying its best to encompass the giant slab of chicken, smashed thin for tenderness and breaded with a fragrant breadcrumb crust that both provides a satisfying crisp/crunch on the edges while soaking up the tomato sauce and cheese. The umami bomb from the tomato sauce and the mix of mozzarella and parmesan plays the classic melody of flavours in your mouth, heightened with a refreshing bite of basil sprinkled on top. Be ready to get messy, but its worth it.
