I had the pastrami sandwich, two sour pickles and a chocolate chip cookie. The sandwich was not the best pastrami sandwich I've ever had, but strangely, it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Lots of butter, lots of mustard, great bread, absolutely fabulous meat in the sandwich... everything was perfect except the pastrami wasn't very pastrami-ish. It was delicious, but it wasn't particularly pastrami-esque. .

The cookie was a bit of a disappointment in that it followed a trend that is far too common. It was undercooked. It seems that everybody is into this cookie dough thing, but I like my cookies cooked and this wasn't that.

But the sour pickles. Oh those sour pickles. They were an absolute thing of beauty. They were crisp enough. They were sharp enough. The flavor was deep enough. They were absolutely, positively delicious.

I'm going back, and I'll get a meat sandwich and this time I'll get four sour pickles and I'll eschew the cookie. But make no mistake, it's the pickles that demand I return.

Note that when I was there for a later lunch on Sunday (about 1:30) there was no parking anywhere nearby. Zero. Bupkis. Nada. Zilch.

The Reuben sandwich was excellent, but the pickle was disappointing. The one I got wasn’t crunchy and tasted over-pickled.

The Sunday special “Two Bites” babka was such a great idea—it was just enough to satisfy my craving. It really was mini-sized, but that’s exactly what made it a perfect little treat.

Smashing IT!🥪🥰🥪

Linny’s Luncheonette — Ossington’s Pastrami Powerhouse!

Linny’s Luncheonette, nestled right in the heart of Ossington Avenue where the city’s cool creatives mingle, is serving up some of Toronto’s best Pastrami on Rye — full stop.

The pastrami practically melts in your mouth. Some pieces have that perfect touch of fat on the edges, adding depth, richness, and that unmistakable smoky tenderness that makes a great pastrami unforgettable. The rye bread is beautifully baked, sturdy yet soft, and the ideal partner for all that flavor.

On my first visit, I ordered the Reuben Sandwich, grilled to perfection with melty cheese and tangy sauerkraut. It was divine — the kind of sandwich that makes you pause mid-bite just to appreciate what’s happening.

And then there’s their famous in‑house specialty: the MIGHTY CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE.

Do not — I repeat, do not — leave Linny’s without grabbing one. In fact, buy three. Trust me, when you get home and take that first bite, you’ll wish you had a couple more waiting on standby. It’s that good.

Linny’s Luncheonette is a delicious treat from start to finish, a spot that honours the craft of making a proper pastrami sandwich.

Add in phenomenal customer service and genuinely friendly staff, and it becomes the kind of place your taste buds will beg you to revisit.

With luck we got in near closing time and had the small shelf to ourselves for eat. I asked if interior was original but was told that it was created to look “original”. Cool interior with additional retro snacks to buy. We shared a pastrami sandwich ( we were on a snack adventure) and a beer. Higher cost but worth it.

Very tasty and moist pastrami sandwich! Great service and vibes. Only thing is it's 20$ for a sandwich which is pricey for the size. Worth a try!

Wow! What a let down. Not only did we pay upwards of $50 for two measly sandwiches and a small side potato salad, but there’s also no where to sit and eat. The portions are very small for the price. The pastrami was fine - nothing life changing but definitely not justifiable for the price. It could use some more mustard and kick.

Save yourself the money and buy the Schwartz vacuum sealed smoked meat and make your own at home. It’s $16 and enough for 4 portions. Don’t let yourself be influenced an Instagram reel showcasing a rip off in a trendy neighbourhood.

The pastrami is perfection, in good rye with just the right slathering of mustard. I am so excited to have such good pastrami nearby. But as good is the latke and pickle sandwich and the knish with gravy.

The pastrami was incredibly moist and flavorful — easily some of the best I’ve ever had. The sandwich was generously packed with tender chunks and slices, and the perfectly caramelized fat will melt im your mouth. I do wish it were a bit larger for the price, or that the bread were a bit sturdier, as it softened quickly from the juicy meat. Still, the quality is top notch and in that sense correlates with the price. I also recently tried the smoked turkey sandwich, it was good but I wasn’t blown away by any means, I would pay $20 for it again, but I’d go back for the pastrami

Just had a turkey sandwich from here and it was packed! The turkey was really good and the sauces were perfect, even my cat wanted a bite. I grabbed a chocolate chip cookie too and it was thick and soft. So good!

My friend and I got the pastrami and turkey sandwiches. The pastrami was so bomb!! Super messy to eat but the flavour is amazing. The turkey is also pretty good, but I wouldn’t fiend for it. NOTE: Their sandwiches are generally quite small, so it’s on the pricey side. I also wish it came with pickles, not sure why they have to be separate for purchase. In general, I’d definitely recommend trying Linny’s out, but there are definitely just as amazing pastrami sandwiches around that are bigger and cheaper.

This was a damn good bite! The pastrami was smoked and spiced to perfection and the potato salad was creamy and crunchy. The price point is a bit high for such a small sandwich but it was sooo good.

Loved linny’s restaurant so this luncheonette would’ve definitely slapped. And it did! Would highly recommend the pastrami sandwich. Super simple sandwich with mustard in between slices of soft bread slices (possibly sourdough) - 9/10. Out of curiosity we also got the fish sandwich which was 7/10. It had a little less flavour but was a nice and fresh compliment to the pastrami sandwich. They also hand out bazooka gum - so nostalgic!! Good vibes all around and they have cute merchandise. We got a red linny’s cap❤️.

I stopped by to sample the pastrami sandwich on a rainy day. It was not disappointing - perfectly seasoned and smoked, tender and handsomely stacked between warm rye. Went down perfectly with Cott’s black cherry cola and a pickle. Staff were friendly and efficient. The decor creates intentionally retro vibe with wood paneling and vintage menu board.

This place will be Toronto’s answer to Schwartz’s deli in Montreal, even more so than Sumilicious in Scarborough. It’s a must-try for authentic Jewish deli lovers.

Note: this is a takeout only joint and for lunch only. there is no seating inside. Weather permitting, there are three patio tables outside on sidewalk.
