We recently tried Cupcake and a Smile, and they are hands down the best cupcakes my wife and I have ever had.

What really stood out is how balanced everything is. The cupcakes aren’t overly sweet like most — they have the perfect level of sweetness with incredible moisture (not dry at all). The texture is spot on.

The icing is on another level. It’s smooth, creamy, and not heavy or overly sugary. It’s the kind of icing you actually want to keep eating, not scrape off like you do with most cupcakes.

On top of that, the owner and her husband are genuinely great people. You can feel it the moment you interact with them — very welcoming, down-to-earth, and they clearly care about what they’re doing. That kind of vibe makes the whole experience even better.

Everything just felt well-made and intentional. We finished them wishing we had ordered more.

What an unexpected delight. We were in town with family for a football game and made a special order for carrot cake cup cakes. Wow!! If you have not tried one, you simply must do so. They are so light and flavorful, better than any other carrot cake we have tasted. The downtown shop was easy to find, and the young lady who served us was great. Such a shame that we live out of town, as Cupcakes and a Smile would be on our frequent list … but this will be our first stop upon our return.

The cupcakes were delicious — the frosting especially was a 10/10! The only downside was that the cupcakes were a bit small, and aside from the Oreo cupcake, most only had frosting on top without any additional filling or toppings. I had planned to gift the cupcakes and was hoping for a nicer presentation, but they came in a plain plastic cupcake holder instead of a gift-ready box.

The shop itself has a lot of potential, but it could use a bit more energy and personality to bring the vibe to life. The girl working wasn’t rude at all, just very timid and not particularly welcoming. Overall, good treats with room for improvement in packaging and atmosphere.

I had the strawberry cupcake and it was so good! Fluffy and super sweet, the brownie with nuts was really good too! Heads up, when we went they didn't accept cash, but that can't stop me from going back for another sweet-tooth satisfaction!
