We did go here for a long time but last October, my dog had blood test done with several “high” results. They never discussed the results with us. My dog developed diabetes, among other things, and it was too late to treat her and we just put her down today.
We could have taken action a lot sooner if they had told us.
I can’t suggest this veterinarian.

Glad to see Danielle was still there. She is always pleasant and helpful. Had a new doctor for us, Dr. Williamson, kind and we appreciated her approach to the concern. We had a much better experience than we had in the past. New customer-friendly front staff makes a difference.

I had used the facility years back with Dr Rob Nicholson, and highly respected him and the knowledge he has and recommendations for treatments of my pups at that time.
Updated.. after having the loss of my Ittys 10 years ago .
Recently I brought home another puppy, but PostRd closed Facility had closed, I sought a different Dr. & Facility. I had no problem with whom I’d chosen, and My husband still has my Cats listed with them. I’m disabled and distance can be difficult, My daughter recommended trying a new facility here in my hometown of Charlton, finding Dr Nicholson again was amazing and close 10 minutes from home. Knowing him from years back I decided to go back to his practice, the care, the comfort of my past experiences and losses, of my previous care for my greyhounds, the trust that had been formed was my immediate decision to go back to Post Rd Veterinary Hospital and the care of Dr Rob Nicholson for my new puppy .
The staff is welcoming, the care is in my opinion, fantastic, I’m completely comfortable having Dr Rob care for my pups need.

Do not USE THIS VET! I brought my dogs urine sample in to be checked, got the results by email saying he needs blood work and X-rays. I call right away and they say he can’t be seen until December 2 or 9 which was 2-3 weeks away.. I did not get a call from the ROB NICHOLSON the so called vet explaining anything. Back and forth with a few more phone calls to them and guess what? STILL CANT EVEN SPEAK THE THE ACTUAL DOCTOR. They told me I cannot come in any other day expect on a Tuesday for X-rays and bloodwork. Well I’m sorry my dog was dying on a Wednesday. They finally said I can come in next week rather than waiting 2-3 weeks. I took my sweet dog to the animal hospital and come to find out he has kidney failure with only a couple days to live. After I leave the hospital I call post road, in actual tears, talking to the receptionist for a second opinion and guess what? They put me on hold to ask the doctors questions and STILL WOULDNT talk to me as my dog as staring at me DYING. No call back asking how he is, NOTHING. This review isn’t made up in slightest bit, and I am not some miserable person trying to shame a business nor do I ever even leave reviews. I just want everyone to realize that these people do not care about your animal and I can promise you that. I promise. Please be careful going to this place. My poor dog is not suffering anymore. But post road would have let my dog suffer and suffer until he died looking at me. If I can help one person by not going here I would be so happy.

Post Road has been great with our animals! They communicate well and listen to our concerns/help find the proper route for treatment every time. We have one older dog with respiratory issues, one kitty with skin allergies and one... Very spicy kitty when she's not comfortable at home. They care a lot. In terms of comfortability and treatment and didn't judge on spicyness regarding the one that's a little anxious (to say the least). Their care and thoughtfulness has helped our dog in his golden years so much as well as our cat with allergies. Plus they always follow-up to make sure everything is well. 🙂

I called Post Road Vet on 6/11/25 to schedule an appointment for my elderly 17 yr old cat due to a possible dental issue. My appointment was on 6/16/25.
Post Road Vet has patrons wait in a waiting room while they take your pet into the back for exams.
I was aware of this; however, I entrusted the Dr.
The Dr. entered the patron waiting room, sat down with me and had a pleasant conversation.
He explained my elderly cat had lost a few tiny front teeth that were of no consequence, however, he did have an infected back tooth.
Otherwise, my cat is in good condition. He said he would be put on antibiotics. I was asked if I wanted pills or a 1 time shot. I opted for the antibiotic shot, and an updated rabies shot.
After the Dr. left the room, the Vet Tech brought my cat out in his carrier. I then took my cat while in the carrier to the front desk to pay the bill. I briefly picked up the carrier and spoke to my cat while things were tallied up. He was drooling excessively and very ill. Not the same cat I brought in.
Albeit, he was stressed from the ride there, but now he was worse.
Things sped along and I was told the bill was $406.10
This is for an office visit/exam/rabies shot/ and an antibiotic shot.
I asked for the printout prior to paying.
I noticed there was a charge for a Urinalysis. I mentioned that I did not have a Urinalysis done on my cat. The "new" CSR said "yes you did". I said, "I didn't bring in any urine" this was to have my cats' teeth looked at.
She said, oh, we took your cats urine. I said how did you do that? She said we take it out by inserting a needle into the bladder.
I was highly upset that the Dr. performed a Cystocentesis which is an invasive procedure without my consent or knowledge.
He didn't even make mention of this when we had our end of appointment conversation.
I demanded to know "why" my cat's urine was taken in the first place, and why I wasn't asked for consent.
The CSR then went in back to get the Dr.
Dr. N came into the office, charmingly laughed, and said, "oh yeah, I forgot to mention that".
I said why would you do that? He said "because your cat has a small bald spot on his belly, it could be a sign of infection so we wanted to test his urine" "we can take that off the bill"
and he quickly walked out of the office.
His explanation did not correlate with me for a bald spot, for not asking for consent, and not informing me at the post visit conversation. I wouldn't have known if I hadn't looked at the bill.
The "procedure" (because that's what it was) was crossed off the bill, in pen.
The bill total wasn't my point at all, even though it was outrageous, and not what I have been used to being a long-time client. The real issue was swiftly swept under the rug. No apologies, no professionalism, no accountability.
I mentioned I probably wouldn't be coming back there again, took my cat and left.
My cat was just not the same, and very ill after this visit, however I'm leaving the post visit out of this review.
Another thing I'd like to mention is Post Road Vet had "Partnered" with "Hometown Veterinary Partners" do some research.
Being a longtime patron, I was never notified of this new "Partnership" which to me is a chain even though they say they are a "Partnership of Veterinarian's"
I wasn't notified of price increases. Why wouldn't patrons be included with notifications of these major changes?
They also now have an "Office Manager" and other Veterinarians practicing there on a part time basis.
The bills have skyrocketed; you're not notified of which vet you
will be seeing.
A letter of notice in the mail to all patrons detailing these big changes in the practice would have been a nice courtesy, even though it is not a legal requirement.
It seems accountability, professionalism, conduct and ethics are in question here. Hopefully present and future patients will not have similar experiences, as we all want what is best for our pets.
I will be leaving an additional review at another time in regard to another incident that took place while my cat was being examined, as it was a separate issue.

Had a great experience there today with my Maltese Shih-tsu and my Pomeranian. Jess, the vet tech, was absolutely amazing, as was the doctor, whose name I think was Dr. Root or Roop. I feel badly for not remembering! I highly recommend this place for your pets' care!

I recently met Dr. Rob. He was professional
friendly and our puppy responded so well to his gentle approach with her. He took his time to explain details concerning our visit. We are looking forward to having wonderful care for our new pet.
