My daughter has very curly (type 3c, some 4a maybe) hair. I've always paid the adult price for her cut at various salons. (Backstory from experiences at another salon you can totally skip -->) The last stylist/salon we went to we were told was the "best Deva cut" in town. Our first cut with him he spent a lot of time on her hair, and did great, and it was around $125 before we tipped, but he spent like an hour+ or so with her. For some reason on our second visit, we paid the same price, and it took like 20 minutes. I don't mind paying for the level of expertise, but I just didn't feel like the same care/time/effort was spent the second time (a full year later, this wasn't a trim 6 weeks later). I've been on the hunt for another salon for her for quite a while now.

Flash forward to now, my daughter is a tween and hadn't had a haircut in 2 years and she really wanted bangs, but also my budget was tighter than it was before. So when a post by a student, Sav, popped up about needing clients, I messaged with her and booked my daughter a "curl experience" at Hideout Academy. Not gonna lie, I was a little nervous, with it being a cosmetology school, and with my daughter wanting something as drastic (and life altering?!?!) as bangs. CURLY BANGS! But she was definitely in great hands. I was really impressed with how the instructor (and owner I believe) supervised and instructed the stylist. One of the biggest takeaways was how kind & encouraging the instructor was. It seems like a really warm & positive environment if you want to learn to be a cosmotologist. My daughter & I wouldn't hesitate to return for either of us. (Maybe even a facial, pedicure, etc?!)

I want to add, it's a very inviting & welcoming, LBGTQ friendly place. Really modern and hip in their style aesthetic. I think my daughter found it to be a really cool place.

Sav, our stylist was super sweet, and did a really great job. I know she'll do great once she graduates!

I had a great experience here!! I wanted a more alternative cut and Rebekah did an amazing job! The supervisors were wonderful as well and I loved seeing them walk their students through various processes. I highly recommend!

Understand that this is a school and these students are learning, but the lady who did my daughter‘s pedicure got polish all over her skin. I’m having to take her to a real salon. I just don’t understand how the instructor looked at her feet and didn’t see all the polish all over her skin and still pass the student. I honestly hate it for her when she does get a license if they don’t start correcting her now most definitely will not be going back there. The price was great but then 15 more dollars for gel I paid a total of $42 and her toes look horrible.

Absolutely FANTASTIC experience I love Chelsea she is a fantastic teacher owner wonderful!!! Ragan is wonderful she did such an amazing job on my hair this is such a relax place felt so at home will come back everytime!!!!!

Such a great experience! The space was incredibly inviting, and the pedicure chairs were more comfortable than ones I’ve sat in at places where I’ve paid $$$$. I got my first gel pedicure, something I’d always skipped before because no one had ever taken the time to explain it to me. The technician walked me through it so clearly that I felt confident giving it a try, and I’m so glad I did. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

Going to this school has been an absolutely wonderful experience, the educators go above and beyond to make sure that you the student are comfortable and understanding what's being taught. The owner Chelsea is also an incredible person that gets to know each student on a personal level and takes the time to support her team, even with being incredibly busy.
