I trained alongside Alex at the Quest, and he went well beyond being a partner. For the weekend, he was effectively my coach. He watches closely and gives one correction at a time. When I was dipping my head as I presented the gun, he told me to change only that: keep my head where it is and bring the gun up to my eye line. When my support hand was coming onto the gun too late, he had me flatten the hand, build the grip earlier, and feel it "gripping you back" as I dug in. Once I did, the dot started dropping in cleanly from the top. He also explained the why behind his advice, from keeping the support thumb up (structural, not a strength thing) to how palm swells fill the gap at the middle knuckle. He showed me his own PDP setup to make the point.

What set Alex apart was how he coached the thinking. He had me describe what my dot does on a good draw versus a bad one, then pick a one-word correction. He kept me diagnosing through grip, sights, and trigger, and he encouraged experimenting in practice instead of chasing perfection. His feedback was honest and specific. He'd tell me when a rep was spot on and to remember that feeling. When I asked whether to switch pistols mid-weekend, he gave a straight answer. If you have the chance to train with Alex, take it.

This was a personal interactive experience that exceeded my expectations of just getting my concealed carry renewal. It was like getting a personal training session by a clearly passionate teacher/practitioner! There is no option but to get better while you are around him. As for the reason I actually choose to go with Castle Keepers, Alex responded immediately but with no pressure, worked with my schedule, offered options and executed on everything he said. At the end, my cert and range results were in my email before my session was complete and all documents were submitted before I left...EASY! Great Experience!

Alex was my choice to pursue my CCW license(s) based on local reviews in my area. Like everything now a days, there are many options on who you choose to train with. For me, Alex was the perfect fit. Flexible scheduling, didn't mind my ceaseless questions, very informative class with real world data and examples, and overall expertise. Also, for the amount of hours and preparation involved, his pricing is very fair. I intend to continue training with him in the future to keep my knowledge fresh and 'skills' sharp. P.S. don't call him Mister :)

Without a doubt, Alex is the consummate professional. He is a top notch firearms instructor, able to work with the brand new student who knows nothing about guns. He is also able to instruct and coach advanced students, helping them hone their skills and confidence.

Whether you are looking to take your Maryland Concealed Carry class, need advanced lessons, or something in between, I can whole heartedly recommend Alex and Castle Keepers!!
