The realtor told me the inspector could not go on the roof and that the buyers needed to hire a roofing company to inspect it. Milne Roofing then claimed the roof needed to be replaced, which led to a $20,000 reduction in the sale price of my home. Based on that assessment, I signed the paperwork agreeing to the reduction.
Had I been given accurate information about the roof’s condition, I would never have agreed to that deal. I later discovered that the inspector had, in fact, gone onto the roof. I then had two independent roofing companies inspect it, and both confirmed that the roof was in good condition with between 600 -1200 in maintenance. only about halfway through its expected lifespan..

I have written many Google reviews over the years which have been very positive for the service and care that I received from many different companies and suppliers. However, regrettably this review is not one of them. I am extremely disappointed at the total disregard I have received from Milne Roofing. They were contracted by a home restorations company to repair the damage done to my roof by a third party rental vehicle which happened in Sept. 2025. Part of the repair work was completed by Milne in a reasonable period of time. However, further damage was discovered which needed additional work done by Milne Roofing. After many promises that this repair would be done over the past 4 months, I have just been notified that Milne Roofing will not complete the job even though it would not have taken very much time. Another roofing contractor now has to be located to complete this job. This has had a financial impact on me as I cannot receive my deposit from my home insurance company until the work is completed. This has also caused me needless concern, time spent calling Milne and my home restoration company and has impacted my peace of mind. I appreciate that Milne Roofing may be busy with larger and more financially rewarding projects. However, to totally disregard their service to me is not acceptable. When it comes time to replace my roof in a couple of years, I will not use Milne Roofing. There are many other more reliable roofing contractors in Nanaimo. Many of them have been in my neighbourhood this spring and have done their job quickly and reliably.

We had an amazing experience with Milne Roofing. Shawn is very thorough and communicative throughout the entire process. He is very knowledgeable with his trade and an overall true professional. We had our roof completed during the off season to which the crew had to work around the rain. Any sunny day to be had the crew would show up in a timely manner and complete a section of roof to ensure the utmost protection as rain would be forecasted the next day. They worked hard and fast. The project was completed in a timely manner and the crew did an exceptional job of the clean up. We couldn't be happier with the outcome. Milne Roofing will always be our recommendation to anyone looking for roofing services.

Milne Roofing did a great job installing a new torched-on membrane roof on our home.
The quality of workmanship is top notch. Our roof and metal flashing looks fantastic.
This fall's bad weather, meant our new roof was installed when my wife and I would be away on vacation. Shawn's communication was fantastic and gave us the confidence to leave the project in his hands. He did not disappoint.
The Milne crew left our yard and house spotlessly clean - not even a dropped screw or small scrap of roofing could be found.

Milne roofing is by far the best roofing company in Nanaimo. The guys were prompt. Worked super hard and got the job done in 2 days. Sean is very easy to work with and says what he means and means what he says. I would definitely use them again but I won’t have to with the awesome work they did!!
