I booked UHaul to change out our hitch wiring from 4 flat to 7 blade.
We set a date and I got a confirmation email two days before the appointment.
My wife brought the vehicle in and sat for over 30 minutes, well past the appointment time, and was only then told that not all the parts are in and the appointment has to move.
They booked her in for the following Sunday to do the install.
Before we go down on Sunday we decide to call first to make sure they are ready.
After being hung up on a few times and navigating some menus we find out that they flat-out don't do installs on Sundays.
Why book us for a Sunday then?
Their rep chose the date.
We timed this work to be done to my wife's work vehicle while she is on vacation so that her work vehicle isn't away for 4 hours on a work day.
Now that time is past and the work isn't done.
We cancelled the install.
Go anywhere else.

Stay away from this Topaz location, they are scamming their customers. What should have cost $82.27 ended up costing me $367.81.
I rented a 15' truck with a dolly for 8 hours yesterday and returned the truck with the dolly in the back, on time at 5 PM, which is during business hours (2 hours before close, not an after hours drop off). I brought the keys to the rep at front desk, which they accepted and said I was all good to go...
This morning I received an extra $200 charge for a "missing dolly." I phoned and spoke with Ian H, who said when he checked in the truck this morning, there was no dolly in the back, so he had "no choice" but to charge the $200 fee.
I let Ian know the dolly was in the truck when I returned it at 5 PM when I handed the keys over, and he said it was not there when he checked the truck in this morning and that I was responsible for the dolly until a U-Haul rep checked it in. They didn't check the truck, in an unsecured lot in a sketchy neighborhood, for 14 hours after I returned it. Read the other reviews about unhoused people living in the back of the trucks and it's not hard to imagine what happened to the dolly.
I said I'm not responsible for their truck/equipment once they accepted the keys back and I asked why they didn't check it in when I was there. Ian said they were "really busy last night" and couldn't get around to it. There was one other customer in the store when I returned the truck and as I was waiting outside for a ride to pick me up, the rep I gave the keys to even wandered outside and talked with me for a few minutes.
Ian said I parked in an area that doesn't have cameras (right in front of the store), so he couldn't verify if another staff member removed the dolly before he checked it in. Then Ian pulled out the "there's no way for you to prove the dolly was in the truck, so I'm going to charge you" card. Shockingly bad customer service and leaves me feeling scammed, covering up their own mistakes.
TLDR; due to their lack of diligence, understaffing, scamming, or some combination of all 3, they are trying to extract an extra $285 from me. Will never return here and will dispute the charge as they offer no other recourse.
I advise you to listen to the other reviews and stay away, there's a reason it's 2.8/5 stars.
Edit: After looking at my bill closer, I also realized they double charged me the rental rate, the damage coverage, and the dolly rate since they didn't check the vehicle in until the next morning instead of when I returned it. What should have been $82.27 ended up costing me $367.81. This is criminal.
Similar to other reviews, they also said the truck has 1/2 tank of gas, but when I checked it was at 7/16. Make sure you take a picture of the gas level and submit it in the app check in, I'm glad I did. This place is shady through and through.
Both management and employees should be ashamed of themselves.

Clement is an exceptional employee of this establishment. He is fully committed to serving the customer and creating a good experience for everyone that chooses to rent here. I highly recommend this location for anything looking for truck rentals in Victoria. He is a dedicated employee that deserves a recognition. Thank you!

Terrible signage for key return. The workers said it would be obvious. I got news. It wasn’t. The one on Topaz in Victoria, is in a slum neighborhood making it dangerous if you return your keys at night. System over the computer was down so I mayaswell had done half the job my self and get an hourly rate. Lazy workers, assume u can find a vehicle by looking at every license plate on the lot rather than directing you. Let me walk away without grabbing a dolly after renting which I almost forgot. These guys have the easiest job and just sit and the desk and do minimal... Charged 50 dollar return because I had to lock the key in the van because couldn’t find the drop box. Oh and customer support wasn’t helpful what so ever. When in doubt blame the customer and save the profits when there was a terrible experince. U-haul on king george Surrey, 5/5 stars. Again. Do not absolutely do not recommend topaz location in Victoria. I’d rather have ai working the counter to be honest. What happened to Uhaul? Honestly everybody should be changing there reviews if there 2 or 3 stars is on there mind. And I honestly say that because about 50 percent are already one star. The only way to get them to be better is if the customers point out how bad the service has become so they lose profits and wake up. They may aswell. The service is already terrible. Honestly. Every review should be 4/5 star of the service is genuinely good (which it isn’t). If you think 3 stars or less give them a one star review to get them to change there bad culture so customers can stop getting screwed. All of it is preventable easily. Hire some more cheap labour from out of country. How about hire some locals.? People who actually care and want to work.

I booked a truck from the U-Haul about a month in advance, but unfortunately, they upgraded us to a larger vehicle just a few days before our scheduled pickup. This caused issues with BC Ferries since the bigger truck meant higher fare and limited sailing options. On top of that, they were a bit late in getting the truck ready for us, which added some stress to an already tight moving schedule. The staff were polite, and the truck itself was clean and in good shape, but the last-minute change and delay were frustrating.

Ordered the truck for July 1, 2 months in advance and still had to wait on a truck. The speedometer did not work in the truck there were cigarette butts under the driver seat cardboard and blankets in the back. The brakes were grinding. I will be contacting the main office for compensation once the weekend is over.nnToday is July 26 they did not return any of my calls on the multiple times i have contacted them. I finally got a hold of Teddy today and he told me as the GM he can only give me 10% that is complete garbage. He also said that the truck was just fine and that he has never heard of the above issues before. nnStay away from this location they don't care about you your belongings or your family.
