I found Thickson Animal Hospital while searching online through local veterinary reviews, and I am incredibly grateful that I did. We recently brought home two new kittens and have had some very stressful health concerns arise, and the care we received from both Dr. Sherry and Dr. Friendship has been exceptional.

They have both been extremely upfront, direct, compassionate, and supportive throughout the entire process. I especially appreciated their honesty and willingness to clearly explain what was happening medically, while still being kind and empathetic during a very emotional situation.

At no point did I feel dismissed or rushed. They took my concerns seriously, answered my questions thoroughly, and genuinely seemed to care about the wellbeing of the animals as well as the emotional toll on their owners.

The staff has also been wonderful, accommodating, and responsive during a difficult week. I would absolutely recommend Thickson Animal Hospital to anyone looking for knowledgeable, caring, and trustworthy veterinary care.

We have gone to Thickson Rd for years with multiple family dogs, but this months experience is why I felt the need to leave a review. Our 12 year old dog had gotten sick over a weekend and we had an awful experience at another vet, it felt like all they had wanted was money. Something told me to wait and send everything over to Thickson Rd who we trusted to go over on the Monday. On Monday Dr. Friendship called me and went over everything she could see from the scans, the verdict was the same but its how she went about it. She had a heart and did not push us to make a decision, just expressed how sorry she was an they were there to support whatever we decided. Once we finally made the decision to ethuinize they set up the appointment with care, were caring when I cried through making that phone call an sent us cremation options. The day of was one of the worst days for our family, and the staff made sure it went smoothly. They explained what would happen, walked us through the steps, gave us privacy and reassured us we were doing what was best for him. My sweet boy went with dignity, and surrounded by not only us who loved him but by staff that had loved him from his first vaccines 12 years ago. The room was peaceful and we could stay with him for however long we wanted. When we left, they made sure someone went to stay with him and followed up that night with a phone call reassuring us.
The difference between our previous experience to Thickson Rd was they made us and him feel important and like our family mattered. We were more then just a number and for that I will be forever greatful. Thankyou will never be enough!♡

tl;dr - The best clinic with the best vets & staff! If they're taking in new patients, GO HERE!! High quality care, worth every penny! 🐕❤️

Long version:
This 5-star review is long overdue considering I've been taking my dog there for 5+ years, and have yet to have a single bad experience. My dog pulls ME across the parking lot to come into the clinic because everyone who works there is so amazing (I don't know which other dog loves going to the vet 🤷🏽‍♂️).

There couldn't be a better clinic to take your pet to than this one, and we completely trust Dr. Sherry and Dr. Friendship; they're both spectacular vets, incredibly caring with my dog, and very knowledgeable. They take their time to very carefully explain their diagnoses and recommendations, so I never leave confused! Everyone else who works there is also very kind, considerate and amazing at their jobs, from all the technicians to the ladies at the front desk (shout out to Pat, Robyn, Anne-Marie, Liz, Ceri, Shannon, Morgan - sorry, I know I'm forgetting some names!!). I've referred everyone in my family to them and they've all had positive experiences. Both my parents and my in-laws drive all the way from Scarborough to get their own dogs seen here for any major concern, even though their primary clinic is closer to them. A few years back, they even saw my sister-in-law's dog for post-surgery care, after he had an overnight emergency stomach surgery while they were visiting us from the States. Can't praise them enough!

The clinic is neat and tidy, and considering pets are always going in and out, it's quite incredible I've not seen it be dirty!

Regarding prescriptions and pricing, they've never once pushed medicine or treatments on me that they don't feel are necessary. So while I've heard that their prices are a little higher than other clinics, their quality of care has been worth every penny so the cost has never been a complaint for me. They always give me estimates for out-of-the-ordinary procedures, let me know which ones they think I should consider and which ones I could probably push off to later or skip entirely, and they never do anything without getting permission in advance. I've had dogs in my family at other clinics get pushed unnecessary treatments and medication which almost always leaves me upset and suspicious of the care; NOT HERE!!

After another wonderful experience today, I sincerely cannot recommend them enough!

All of the staff here are so lovely. They always take the time to answer my questions, provide ample reassurance, and different treatment options to explore. They also show my dog so much care at every visit. As a first time pet owner I couldn’t ask for a better vet.

We came across Thickson Road Pet Hospital through online research and positive reviews. After taking our pup to another vet and not being satisfied, I can say the service and care here was night and day!

All the staff were beyond friendly and welcoming. There was no rush during our visit and the insight and knowledge we gained through conversation with the staff was so valuable.

If you are in the market for a vet, or considering a change, I can vouch that this establishment is top notch.

I cannot say enough good things about the staff and care here. From reception right up to the doctors, you can tell that everyone here has a deep love of animals and go above and beyond anything I've experienced at other pet hospitals. The empathy everyone shows to both animals and humans is amzing. Vets and techs will get on the floor and sit with my dogs to keep them calm and comfortable; the staff have even sat on the floor with me in difficult times.
Everything is explained clearly so you know exactly what they will be doing to your pets. They follow up with calls after procedures when they say they will and have always made time to answer questions when you call. Costs are fair and they do their best to help lower them when possible.
I will recommend this pet hospital to anyone asking and will continue to be a client long into the future.

One of the best Vet Hospitals in Oshawa. I've been with them since 2012 when I rescued my first cat Tigger out of three. I have since lost two of my three cats to illness Charlie and Tabby and I still have my original cat Tigger who is now 12 yrs going on 13 yrs and plus I have a 2 yr, 4 month old Border Collie dog now named Ivy.
They are always so good there and they just love the animals. Everyone of them that works there are great with the pets and customer service in how we are all feeling when we walk in that door. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Thank you Dr. Sherry and staff. ❤️

I cannot say enough about this place. Dr. Friendship is truly a wonderful vet. Her heart is lovely, her work is professional, her demeanor is fantastic. The staff are absolutely fantastic to deal with. I trust very few people in this world, yet I trust everyone who works here. Especially Dr. Friendship. If the owner is reading this - never let her go. :-)

Always professional, always caring and always kind. Have been going there for 20 years for my dogs and cats. Never had a problem with them and I trust all the doctors, assistants and receptionists . They are a fantastic team!
