I am writing this review, strictly for the poor customer service that was displayed at the Petco WEST ORANGE. I arrived two minutes before closing and called seven minutes prior to closing time to inform them that I will be picking up my cats litter. I understand it was towards closing time however when I arrived, the time was still 8:58 PM. Technically, the store closes at 9 PM so that would need any shoppers inside. The building would be able to finish their purchases and be able to head out however with the doors not being properly functional based off of an previous customers complaint who left something inside as she was trying to return to get it mentioned. The manager on duty would not allow me to enter, and I understand by the time they arrived it was 9:02. By deliberately closing the doors early, they denied me access from shopping

We have taken one of our dogs here for grooming 3 times with 2 different groomers. We are not particularly picky with how they style our dog but she comes out nice and clean every time. The two groomers are also very nice and friendly.

no matter what you do, DO NOT BUY ANY FISH FROM HERE. 8 years ago, i moved out here with a beautiful tank of fish. approx 1-2 months after settling in, I bought a few fish from here due to convenience. WIPED OUT MY TANK. THE FISH FROM HERE TRANSMITTED SOMETHING THAT KILLED EVERY ONE OF MY FISH THAT I HAD FOR YEAR.

8 years, passed, figured i would give it another try. stupid decision. bought a few fish from here. within 8 days, have 6 dead fish. TOTALLY SUCKS. I REPEAT... DO NOT BUY ANY FISH FROM THIS PETCO. DEATH SENTENCE FOR A CURRENT THRIVING TANK .

Petco in West Orange ten ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ they were very helpful, informative and just nice guys. I don’t remember their names, they know who they are. I brought leopard geckos and they were so patient with me. Guys, I named them Mac & Cheese. That’s Mac in the pic. Cheese is in the corner chilling. ♥️

Dear Petco Management,
I am writing to express my concern regarding the service I have repeatedly received from a groomer named Monica at your West Orange location.
I understand that weekend grooming appointments are typically booked in advance and that the store is often busy. However, I have been informed that in between scheduled grooming appointments, walk-in services such as nail trims are available. Unfortunately, each time I bring my dog in for a nail trim, Monica has turned me away.
To avoid any confusion, I recently began calling ahead before arriving. Today, I called and was told by a groomer that I could come in after 3:00 PM for a nail trim. However, when I arrived, Monica again refused service. When I explained that I had called ahead, she appeared visibly annoyed and questioned who had taken the call. Another groomer confirmed that he had, and he was able to assist me by completing my dog’s nail trim.
While I appreciate that another staff member ultimately provided the service, I am disappointed by the repeated difficulty and inconsistency I have experienced when interacting with Monica. As a customer, I expect clear communication and a professional, courteous approach.
I am bringing this to your attention in hopes that this matter can be addressed to ensure a more consistent and positive experience for customers moving forward.

The store manager is amazing extremely friendly. The staffed helped me and I walked out not feeling like a number but family. That was probably the best experience I had at a Petco especially when it came to the engagement with my fur baby and the staff. I wanted to spend and I felt valued.

I absolutely loved David, I believe he stated he was the manager there. No one else seemed to want to assist but he stepped right in and helped me get situated with my new puppy. Gave me some food recommendations along with treats suitable for for Ms. Gracey (my puppy) and of course he led me to some amazing toys. I will definitely be back to shop with David. Thank you sooooo much

brought my dog Muffin to Petco for grooming with Deanna, and she did an amazing job! She took the time to address all of my concerns before getting started and made sure Muffin was comfortable throughout the process. Deanna was able to get rid of all the matting and left Muffin looking and feeling great! I really appreciated her communication and professionalism. You can tell she takes her work seriously and truly cares about the pets she grooms. Thank you so much, Deanna! 🐾💖

Devon is very kind and caring, he clearly loves animals. He took such good care of our Senior Rosie girl for her bath. She has arthritis and he has experience with physical therapy and dogs with her condition. He even went the extra mile and gave her arthritic back leg a massage.

I’ve never seen her so happy after a grooming!

I normally shop at PetSmart, but after my experience with Maddy at the Petco in West Orange, NJ, my money will always go to Petco for all my fish needs. On Monday around 9:30 a.m., I went to this location (Transaction #136477), and this was my very first encounter with someone who actually took the time to educate me so that my fish tank experience could be rewarding.

Maddy was incredibly sweet and patient. She answered all of my questions ,even when I wasn’t making a purchase. I originally came in to buy a water filter for my 50-gallon fish tank. She started by showing me the best option, but I admitted I didn’t want to spend that much. Instead of brushing me off, she explained the differences and benefits between the filters. Her knowledge helped me realize that the option she recommended made the most sense in the long run.

I also asked her other fish-related questions, and she gave me advice that I had never received at PetSmart. She really educated me on how to care for my fish so they can have a long-lasting life, which I truly appreciated. Even though I could see that she was busy fulfilling orders, she never made me feel like I was inconveniencing her. She didn’t rush through my questions , she cared enough to help me thoroughly.

Although my interaction with Maddy was brief, it was impactful. She is truly a gem, and I’m grateful for the time she spent with me. Because of her, I’ll be shopping exclusively at Petco from now on.

Always a one stop favorite shop for my bearded dragons. They were both purchased here too. They are the loves of mine and my daughter's lives. I also love the staff there ... Very helpful and professional.
