We had a mixed experience at Oretta Midtown. Overall, the ambiance was very nice (4/5), and the drinks were good (4/5). Service was also generally good (4/5). The host and our initial server were great, although another server who brought some of our dishes seemed unsure about how to properly place and serve them at the table.
The food was unfortunately very inconsistent.
The grilled calamari was amazing — easily 5/5 and the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, having it first may have set the bar a little too high for everything that followed.
The Pizza Fritta with beef tartare was average (3/5). The concept sounded great, but the fried pizza dough was quite difficult to cut, and the flavour of the beef tartare was lost underneath the pesto sauce.
The biggest disappointment was the gnocchi (1/5). The dish felt more like a stew with green peas and, surprisingly, pieces of lettuce. More importantly, the gnocchi themselves were dull and chewy, with a texture that reminded us of frozen potatoes that had been thawed in a microwave. Unfortunately, we couldn’t enjoy the dish at all.
Oretta is a beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere, good drinks, and clearly the ability to make some excellent dishes—the calamari proved that. However, given the inconsistency in the food, our overall experience was disappointing.

At first glance, this restaurant was very appealing, with its high ceilings, attractive entrance, and even a DJ creating a lively atmosphere.
We visited on a weekday around 5 p.m., and it was surprisingly busy. Most of the tables were reserved, and since it was just my friend and me, the only available table they could offer us was a table meant for six people.
The host was extremely friendly and gave us a very warm welcome. The restaurant itself was beautiful, and even the pizza we ordered was excellent.
The only thing that was really disappointing and completely affected our overall experience was our server. She seemed eager for us to order from the main menu, while we preferred to choose from the happy hour menu. We felt that after realizing our choice, her attitude toward us changed and wasn’t as pleasant as it had been at the beginning. We also ordered two drinks based on her recommendation, but unfortunately, neither of them tasted good.
Overall, I think the restaurant is worth visiting at least once. I just wish we had been treated differently and made to feel valued, because then we wouldn’t have left with a negative impression and would have considered coming back. Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll return.
As for the food, I would give it 5 out of 5 stars. The shrimp and the pizza were absolutely delicious

Visited Oretta in Midtown for brunch with two friends and overall had a pleasant experience. The restaurant was very clean, nicely designed, and the patio was a great place to sit on a nice day. We were seated right away with no wait, even though there was an event happening upstairs at the same time.
The food quality was good and everything we ordered tasted fresh and well-prepared. That said, considering the price point (over $40 per person before drinks and extras), I found the portions a bit on the small side.
Our server, Austin, had only been working there for about two weeks. He seemed a little overwhelmed at times, but he was friendly and trying his best. As a thoughtful gesture, the staff brought us a complimentary plate of fresh pineapple at the end of our meal, which was very much appreciated.
The biggest downside was parking. The restaurant does not have its own parking, and finding convenient parking in the area was frustrating. I ended up parking in the underground Farm Boy lot and still paid about $20 for parking, despite being told there was a promotion for free parking with a minimum purchase.
Overall, a nice brunch spot with good food, a lovely atmosphere, and attentive staff, but be prepared for higher prices, smaller portions, and potentially expensive parking.

I really wanted to enjoy Oretta and give it a stellar review, but unfortunately the food just wasn’t as good as many many other Italian restaurants in the city.
We initially ordered off of the Happy Hour menu as we arrived in time for that. The price of the Calamari was $12 but they barely gave you enough, instead you get a giant bowl of aioli. Between the three of us we decided only two of us would share it because otherwise it wasn’t worth it!
We also shared the Pizzetta La Parma, which was a reasonable amount of food at the same price point as the Calamari! Definitely go for one of the Pizzetta to get a more shareable appetizer. It was one of the better items I had during our night. I generally found their pizzas better than their pasta.
For my main item I ordered the Pasta Al Forno, which was okay but I’ve definitely had much better pasta in the city.
In terms of drinks we each had a glass of Prosecco, which was fine, nothing to write home about. I enjoyed the Limoncello Soda, one of the better things I tried during our meal.
The vibe of the restaurant was nice and overall the service was good, no real issues there, though also nothing to make it stand out.
Overall the quality and the flavour of the food really needs some work and I insist that the Calamari price point needs to come down if they’re really giving you so few to share.

We dined here for lunch and had a very pleasant experience. The food was delicious, and the service was genuinely good.
Our server was attentive and consistently checked on us to make sure everything was okay without being intrusive. After we finished eating, we stayed a bit longer to chat, and he never made us feel rushed.
As a nice surprise, he even brought us some fresh pineapple as dessert, which was a thoughtful and refreshing touch.
Overall, great food and great service — we’ll definitely be back!
