They helped me with everything from planning, buying the tank and the essentials to choosing plants and adding the final livestock.
Their patience, knowledge, and guidance made the whole process easy and enjoyable.

Great store, good selection of livestock and plants and staff are always super helpful and friendly, plus they have cool reptiles as well. There’s no bike rack nearby so if your ride a bike/scooter be prepared to walk a little bit or lock up to the no parking post outside and invest in an alarm like I did. Either way it’s one of two staple LFS’s I frequent regularly and will continue to do so in the future.

Drove all the way from PoCo to Downtown for this skimmer. The staff members were very friendly and helpful in reserving the product for me over the phone, which I truly appreciated.
However, I was disappointed to find out that it was an open-box product once I got home. It was clear the previous customer had used it and didn't bother to dry it before returning it. There was even algae inside the tubes. Since the drive is too far to go back for a return, I had to spend a lot of time cleaning and disinfecting it myself. I hope the team can be more careful when inspecting returned items in the future to ensure they are in proper condition before putting them back on the shelf.
Overall is a good place to shop.

My son had to grab some flies for his science project so we made the trek downtown. He also has a fish tank and quite into reptiles and we have heard a lot of this place. Located underground which felt fitting for this type of establishment. Tons of friendly staff to help with anything you need. The inventory felt more specific and exotic than say Pet Smart which is way general. Cool place and worth a visit.

Aquariums West is the best. They always have an amazing selection of healthy fish, great nano tank options, and hard-to-find high-end gear like Chihiros lights. Jen, Doug, and Mike are incredible—they helped me set up my first tank two years ago and have supported me with troubleshooting issues along the way, guiding me through building several more and even breeding fish from my original aquarium. You can tell they’re genuinely passionate about the hobby and love helping beginners grow their own passions. The new staff members are also lovely, I haven’t learned their names yet but shoutout to them as well! This shop has truly shaped my aquascaping journey, and I’m so grateful for everything they’ve taught me.

I drive about a hour and a bit just to come to such an amazing aquarium shop, the care and love they have for our little fish buddies is pretty awesome, they quite a few aqua scapes set up and it inspired me to try live plants and set up my very own, the team at aquarium west take their time to educate their customers and provide us the knowledge we need to succeed in the hobby. Great selection of driftwood/rocks, fresh water/salt water care and all. If you’re in the area stop by check out the shop trust me you’ll love it!

Been visiting Aquarium West for years now. Always such a nice store to find a variety of hardscapes and substrates, impressive options for fish and plants as well, and you can find all the supplies you need to get started with both silt and fresh water aquariums.
Visited yesterday because I recently decided to get back into the hobby with my partner who’s new to the hobby.

We were able to get some final touches of substrates and rocks. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The highlight of our stop was that we were able to get different substrates to detail our aquarium. One the staff, she was very friendly, kindly opened two of the bag of sands that we wanted and we were able to get how much we wanted by the weight

Honestly this store has become one of my favourites lately. It all started with wanting some supplies for some plant terrariums a friend and I decided to make, and now we are addicted to the diverse creatures (reptiles, fish, crustaceans, amphibians just off the top of my head), live plants (aquatic and otherwise), live rocks, and oodles of tanks, terrariums, and everything imaginable to put in them to decorate and more.

The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and make the experience wonderful. Definitely drop by!!
