celebrated my birthday here last Saturday, and it was an absolutely flawless evening from start to finish. The guest experience alone was easily the best I’ve encountered in years. A huge shoutout to the manager, Kris Petrov, who was nothing short of exceptional! I watched him interact with every single table, delivering top-tier customer service and making all of us feel like absolute Kings & Queens. The bartender was also fantastic and set a great tone for the night. As for the food—phenomenal presentation and completely delicious. I had the bone-in ribeye, which was cooked to absolute perfection, paired with the mashed potatoes and the legendary corn crème brûlée.If you want to celebrate a special occasion and be treated like royalty, Steak 48 is the place to go. Thank you to Kris and the staff for making my birthday unforgettable!"

Some restaurants get it right! Such is the case with Steak 48 in Chicago. From making our reservations throughout the evening, our night was perfect. Daniel The Server. A true pro, Daniel treats each set of guests in a seamless personal, welcoming, humorous & inviting style. Fine dining is his mantra - with the warmth & knowledge to go with a highly sophisticated experience. We relaxed, conversed - and celebrated a recent milestone. Daniel made everything exactly right. And the food! Outrageously plentiful, gorgeously served with the finest ingredients. The creativity of each dish is something we will recall for a longtime. We savored a take-home bag and attempted to re-create the experience. Although mighty tasty, there is nothing like being in the immediate atmosphere of Steak 48!

Beautiful place to celebrate intimate occasions. My wife and I felt very welcomed and the service was amazing. The food was amazing as well. Literally had a reservation at another steakhouse but cancelled last minute and found this gem. Thank goodness 🙌🏽 Will be back when we come back to Chicago!

Booked in advance. But they didn’t let us in saying my $600 Dolce and Gabbana pants look like joggers because don’t have a belt. And they are not joggers. Will go to another place to spend our $600 that even have better rating

Very good. Steak was cooked impeccably, hint go one higher. Appetizers were very good. All dishes were good and we had a great time. Good cocktails, service was also good. Not a very high end steak house but they do try the best, price is good and would go there again.

Classy! Cozy! Our waitress, Yazmin (Yaddy) set our evening on fire!! She provided SUPERIOR service! She made of feel like we were the only couple in the restaurant. She gave us her knowledge and detailed recommendations of every item we referenced. She was kind, humorous, patient, and knowledgeable!! It was my husband's 80th birthday 🎂 celebration and she made it SPECTACULAR! He was lavished with gifts!!! One of the gifts was his favorite... a huge key lime pie!!! It was big enough to serve 6 ppl.

Steak 48 delivered one of the most fabulous dinners I have ever had. I attended as part of a catered group, and everything was outstanding from start to finish. The private dining room was incredibly spacious and beautifully arranged for our group of about 40 to 45 people, which made the evening feel both elegant and comfortable.
We were served four different appetizers, followed by a choice of two salads, and then our entrées. I chose the steak, and it was absolutely scrumptious. It was perfectly prepared and full of flavor. To top it all off, we were served their signature dessert, which was the perfect ending to an amazing meal.
This is truly a must-visit restaurant in Chicago. The food, atmosphere, and overall experience were exceptional. Do not miss it!

I truly am happy that I decided to give Steak48 a second chance. After a lackluster first experience, this one was completely different. Daniel our server was so knowledgeable, kind and friendly. The bread was not dry and the flavor was excellent. Our steaks were perfectly cooked and the baked potato was the best pairing. Lastly, the desserts stole the show. The chocolate bombe and the beignets are to die for. A huge thank you to Jennifer. Her hospitality is impeccable and that was the main reason why I decided to return. I look forward to dining there again.

We had dinner here recently and it was honestly one of the best steaks I’ve had. I ordered the filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly and super tender. They serve it on a 500° plate which actually keeps it hot the whole time, which I loved.
The atmosphere is really nice without feeling stuffy, and the service was great — attentive but not hovering. Everything from the drinks to the sides was solid. Definitely worth it for a special night or if you just want a really good steak in Chicago. Would go back for sure.

We’ve been here several times and have dined both at a table and at the bar, and it’s an amazing experience either way, but the bar is hands down our favorite spot. It’s probably our favorite steakhouse bar in Chicago. I can’t fully explain it, but it feels cozier and livelier than most others. There’s just a great energy without it feeling chaotic.
One thing we really love is that you can actually reserve bar seating on OpenTable, which isn’t common at most steakhouses. That alone makes it such an easy choice when we’re planning a night out.
Our go to is splitting a few apps, sharing a perfectly cooked steak, and enjoying a bottle of wine. It’s the best kind of dinner ritual. The staff always does an incredible job accommodating everyone and making the experience feel seamless and special.
Honestly, I usually come back and just want the shishito peppers & torched scallops. So simple, so good. Yum.

The food was amazing. Had seafood starters which were amazing. Two fillet steaks for mains with lobster on one and scallops on the other. Perfectly cooked. Service from Daniel was 5*
Overall a fantastic experience

It’s was our 1st time here & Celebrated our anniversary! We were NOT disappointed, the staff at the front very lovely gals and so sweet & kind. Our serve Matthew was amazing!! Super funny and explained everything, I’m extremely picky with how I like my steak and he knew what I wanted and I was given exactly what I wanted! The sides were delicious! We tried the asparagus fries, a little too over fried but everything else was amazing. The red velvet bread pudding 10/10! I will say, we sat in the back near the kitchen and servers/waiters mostly huddled back there and would chatter, nothing crazy but would’ve preferred less of it. I will say at one point towards closing I believe it was manager was chatting with a server and expressed annoyance over a table requesting a different section of the restaurant and I know it was close to closing and sections need to be cleaned etc. but we overheard and disrupted our dinner. Other than that our Anniversary dinner was delight full and we look forward to coming back.

Best restaurant in the city — truly unforgettable
My experience at Steak 48 was nothing short of extraordinary. They went above and beyond to make my one-year wedding anniversary (and 11-year relationship anniversary) the most special day of my life.
From the moment I walked in, the hostess was incredibly kind and welcoming — even complimenting me, which honestly made me feel like a celebrity. We were escorted to a private booth beautifully decorated with rose petals on the table, a detail that completely took my breath away.
The surprises didn’t stop there. At the end of our meal, we were treated to a complimentary slice of cake and an unexpected gift of champagne glasses, which was such a thoughtful and memorable touch.
The food was absolutely immaculate. I love how the steaks are served on hot plates so they continue cooking at the table — perfection. And the mac and cheese? Easily the best in the city, no contest.
Every single detail — the service, the ambiance, the generosity, the warmth — was flawless. Steak 48 didn’t just give us dinner; they gave us a lifelong memory. Hands down, the best restaurant in Chicago.

Very nice place at Steak 48. Family style. A bit noisy but good pizza. I enjoyed the team for being so nice and attentive. Good and thank you

We booked here for my husbands 50th birthday visiting from the UK & we were not disappointed. Our table was romantic & private with views directly into the kitchen. Everything about this place was perfect & the service is exceptional, although we had a few servers at various points our main server Clare was lovely & helpful. Steaks & everything with them were cooked to perfection. One of the best places weve ever been to. Im just upset we wont get to go there again as we were on holiday!

Visited this restaurant after it was recommended by many. Unfortunately, our experience was just not what we expected. My brother and I booked a table to try their steaks and thanksgiving dinner. A common theme across all menu items was how dry everything was. Dry bread, dry meat balls, dry steak, dry turkey. We ate the meal because we had not eaten all day and made no fuss since we knew they were busy. Fernanda’s service was exceptional but the food was a let down. We truly appreciate the way Fernanda explained everything and was attentive throughout. It is also unfortunate that no manager or supervisor ever checked on our table. We saw them walking around but nobody near us had their table “touched” by a manager to inquire how everything was going. Also, a rare complaint but this restaurant’s ambiance does not match what they advertise at ALL. The music was rock or country… in a place where they are charging $300 for steaks. Dress code? Forget about it. We had button down shirts and oxford dress shoes. We saw people wearing pajama pants in sneakers, plaid galore and only a few families with sports coats and nice dresses. So far, Maple & Ash remains on top. Maple & Ash delivers luxury on a plate. RPM has moody 007 vibes and fantastic food. Steak 48 left us, unamused. I hope the management team reevaluates things.

We hosted a dinner with customers for the famous Rockwell Automation Fair at the McCormick place and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The seafood tower and candied bacon exceeded our expectations and so did the cocktails, wine and atmosphere as well as caraismatic service! They also accommodated a party of 12 with ease!!!

This is a great place for a special occasion. The ambience is dimmed and romantic. The service is second to none- almost too much with at least 3 people attending to each table. The food is expensive but wonderful- the steaks are the best and cooked to perfection. However, as somewhere which has a reserve wine list, where bottles are $100s we were disappointed that the bottle of zinfandel we ordered was served far too cold which affected it's flavour significantly. Such a shame.

I recently dined at this restaurant and had such a wonderful experience. To start, I ordered the lobster appetizer, which was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared—an excellent way to set the tone for the meal. For my entrée, I had the bronzino fish, and it was absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked, light yet full of flavor, and paired with just the right sides. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere made the whole evening even more enjoyable. Overall, a great dining experience.

Not recommended at all. The indifferent attitude is discriminatory
Tonight, my family and I visited STEAK 48 in Chicago to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, a meaningful Chinese holiday. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a special celebration turned into a deeply disappointing experience due to the poor service and unreasonable policies.
From the moment we were seated, our waitress Daisy seemed noticeably unfriendly. While she was warm and attentive to other tables, she barely paid us any attention. We brushed it off at first, but things got worse. Before we had even finished our wine and steak, she asked if we wanted the plates cleared--something we've never experienced at a restaurant of this caliber.
To honor the festival, we brought a small mooncake--about the size of a cookie--and politely asked for an extra plate. The staff provided one without mentioning any extra charge. It wasn't until we received the bill that we discovered a $18 "outside food fee." No one had informed us of this policy, even though several staff members were nearby when we took out the mooncake.
When we spoke to the manager to express our concerns, his attitude was dismissive and condescending. He insisted that "everyone should know" about their outside food policy and made no effort to acknowledge our perspective. We explained that, had we been informed, we would not have consumed the mooncake there, especially since we were already full from our meal. Charging $18 for a symbolic, bite-sized treat feels unreasonable and unfairly targeted--it left us feeling discriminated against, perhaps because we are foreigners.
To clarify why the $18 fee is particularly unreasonable: we had already spent a significant amount on steaks and wine. The mooncake was a tiny, symbolic item for our festival, not a substitute for any dessert on their menu. Charging a fee that is typically applied to large outside cakes or bottles of wine for something of this size and nature is completely disproportionate and lacks common sense. It felt like a penalty for celebrating our own culture, rather than a fair policy.
Between the inconsistent service, lack of policy transparency, and the manager's unprofessional response, we felt completely disrespected as customers. There is no service at all. It's not worth a tip at all .We will not be returning, and we cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.

We’ve lived downtown Chicago for two years and we have tried our fair share of restaurants! Steak 48 is one of the first places that our friends introduced us to and it’s one of the only ones we continue to go back to. We have never had a negative experience and in fact, it only gets better.
Tonight we celebrated our first wedding anniversary and the team went above and beyond to make us feel so special. We got the waitress we requested, a card, “happy anniversary” written in chocolate on our dessert plates, etc. It was such a wonderful evening! We have to shoutout Fernanda for being such a FABULOUS server/human, Kris, Frank, and the rest of the team for being simply amazing.
They have practically ensured that as long as we are close we will be celebrating at Steak 48 in the future! Cheers!

Wonderful food and atmosphere in a cozy restaurant (I love the dark ambience). Everything we ordered was flavorful and finger licking good. The portions are plentiful so you can share with love ones at home or enjoy as leftovers later at home. I’m a foodie and do a lot of traveling to explore and experience food. I love ordering several appetizers to share along with entrees. Everything was good.
Our server Yazmin was incredible and made us feel welcomed from start to end. She also was very knowledgeable of the menu and dish options and answered all questions. She made sure we had everything we needed while serving the entire upstairs plus the private party on the terrace.

Was there midweek with a business group. Magnificent meal. My filet perfect. A highlight was our server Allie K. Top notch.
Returned Sat with my husband. Asked for Allie K. She sat us in the kitchen area. Mesmerizing with friendly, warm service and delicious beef.

Steak 48 is hands-down our favorite restaurant, and our anniversary dinner reminded us why! Easy booking, gorgeous classic steakhouse vibe with romantic lighting, and everyone dressed to impress thanks to their dress code. Jay, our server, was charming, attentive, and knowledgeable, and the whole team was fast and professional. The food was absolutely outstanding — premium ingredients, generous portions, and cooked to perfection. Loved the handwritten card from the GM and complimentary dessert — such thoughtful touches! A flawless, memorable evening.
