I scheduled a service with a with a different company called “Jared’s garages” and SGD came out to my house. When I scheduled my service it was to get a free quote for repair and replacement. Until SGD showed up for the appointment I had no idea that it was not the “company” I had actually called.

I was working with Dustin who was a great sales representative, at about the one hour mark when he gave me the first quote for a repair, I realized that this was going to be out of the price range my family could currently afford. Maybe in the future we could swing getting a full replacement, so it would make sense to get a full replacement quote: to have on hand for the future.

However I was expecting these quotes to be free, that is what I discussed with the company on the phone. It wasn’t until I was at the one hour mark that I was told there was a labor charge of $250. I explained that this was not something I had agreed to and was not disclosed. The first call I made, the person on the phone had stated I was able to get a free quote; Dustin apologized for the confusion and confirmed that if that was what I had been told he would need to honor that. He then went to talk to his manager and finalize a quote for a full door replacement.
When he came back his manager had to speak with me as they would need to charge a labor fee for coming out.

By the time I received two quotes at 9pm(2+hrs) I was fully exhausted from the financial stress of the situation our broken garage door was causing. $250, $700-$1600, $2600 none of these prices work for us, yes you guys offer financing, but that didn’t play out for me either and would have still been uncomfortable to add to our monthly expenses at this time. At 9 pm I was exhausted and mistakenly paid the wrong invoice, I was told that wouldn’t go through and would fall off (it hasn’t, that charge is for $127$). Then I paid $257 to pay the correct invoice, for something that I had expected to be free.

The entire situation has caused stress and ultimately is a bait and switch. If SGD is taking leads from a marketing shell there should be better communication with a customer about expectations around mandatory fees. I would never have met with SGD had I been told it was $250 to get a quote.

Terrible prices. Would stay away.

One of our garage springs broke on a Sunday. Because it’s an older heavy door, we could not open and get our cars out of the garage, so we felt some urgency to get fixed. Tech came out and immediately started getting a bad feeling. Labor fee to even get me a quote? They charged us for two new extremely expensive coils, which I later learned had probably a 200-300%+ markup. They also initially wanted to charge us for two new drums for $300(!) for the pair which online you can buy for $50 max. Overall, they seemed less about helping us to try and fix our problem and more about squeezing us for as much money as they could with the upsell. As one reviewer noted, it’s very odd how they could have so many good reviews with such ridiculous pricing. Would not use again.

They had a fast response, the day I called was the day they came out. Angel looked at everything and was able to make repairs instantly. Granted, he only had to put the chain on the sprocket but I didn't have the knowledge. He was professional and personable.

Superior Garage Door is a reliable and professional company. Jason, the salesperson, is knowledgeable and trustworthy. He came and gave me an estimate for repairs and replacements. I’m satisfied with the service and the products. I decided to have the motor hardware, and door with insulation replaced. The total cost was under $5K.
