If I could give 0 stars, I would. TERRIBLE SERVICE THAT WILL COST YOU THOUSANDS WHEN THEY DAMAGE YOUR THINGS AND DO NOT REIMBURSE YOU.

AMJ is a well known company who we have used in the past. My husband in particular used them repeatedly for moves across company because of his job. So when we ordered furniture from Crate & Barrel and they had a working affiliation with AMJ to deliver purchased items, we felt confident the items would be in good hands.

However AMJ's service and accountability for property damage in their care has been deplorable. Items purchased upon unwrapping with white glove service showed severe damage to our items (which were pricey!). The credenza door was smashed, legs bent and other items knicked. The driver took note of it through documentation with photos and redirected to AMJ for a resolution as the damage occured in THEIR care.

We have been bounced back and forth between different AMJ Centres (Toronto and Ottawa) who blame each other and none will take responsibility for their actions. They even tried to place onus on the furniture company when it left their store in good condition (I took photos to verify the state pre shipping) to replace the item.

I am extremely disappointed and would heed HEAVY caution to anyone thinking of using them in the future. Their services are not well-priced compared to others and if you don't get what you're paying extra for, why use them?

AMJ, shame on you. Especially as a large company with insurance - the manner in which your team has conducted itself is pathetic and beneath the trust that people have in your company.

Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience with AMJ during my most recent service appointment arranged through Design Within Reach.

This was already the second visit for my Noguchi Coffee Table. The original purpose of this appointment was to replace the glass top because the previous one had a small scratch, and to address a gap between the wood base pieces after the table had previously been assembled by AMJ.

From the beginning of the appointment, I did not feel that my questions or concerns were being handled professionally or respectfully. Even something as simple as asking whether they had a measuring tape was met with, “I can measure on the phone.”

More importantly, I asked both technicians whether they had experience assembling a Noguchi Table. One told me no, while the other was unsure. Since this was already the second visit and the base needed to be reassembled correctly, that understandably concerned me. I immediately contacted my DWR Design Specialist, who spoke with them directly and sent over the official assembly instructions.

I specifically asked them to review the assembly instructions before touching the base. However, while one technician was receiving the PDF, the other had already started trying to take the table apart. I immediately asked him to stop and wait until they had reviewed the instructions. This made me extremely uncomfortable because I had already explained my concern about damaging the table, and it felt like there was very little respect for the piece or for my request to follow the proper procedure.

I had no issue with them simply saying, “We haven’t assembled this particular table before, but we’re happy to review the instructions and make sure we do it correctly.” That would have been completely reasonable. Instead, their attitude made me feel as though I was somehow questioning their professionalism simply by asking them to follow the instructions for a product they had just acknowledged they were unfamiliar with. I was also very uncomfortable with the way one of the technicians spoke to my DWR Design Specialist when I called her for assistance.

Before leaving, they told me that the wood base was “only three pieces” and that even a teenager could assemble it. I found that comment particularly dismissive and unnecessary. The fact that a piece has only a few components does not mean there is no correct way to assemble and position them. In fact, the reason they were there was partly because the base had not been properly fitted during a previous service visit.

After they took the base apart and reassembled it, the gap was still there and the issue was ultimately not resolved.

My biggest issue is not that these technicians had never assembled a Noguchi Table before. Nobody can be expected to have experience with every piece of furniture. My issue is how they responded to that lack of experience. Taking a few minutes to review the manufacturer’s instructions and treating a customer’s concerns with respect would have made this an entirely different experience.

For a company handling and assembling expensive furniture, I expected considerably more care, professionalism, and attention to detail.

Our move with AMJ was fantastic. They are professional, quick, and friendly. It was a complicated move with two separate cross-country deliveries and different dates for both picking up and dropping off, but everything went smoothly. Most importantly, they did an amazing job packing and labelling our artworks with a keen eye for detail. They made our lives so much easier in a very stressful time.

Oscar and his team were fantastic. They arrived on time, loaded their van quickly and efficiently, and unloaded in the same manner. They were always pleasant to deal with and always listened to my instructions.
The office staff, likewise, were efficient and easy to deal with, always letting me know what was happening each step leading up to moving day. I would highly recommend AMJ-Toronto Moving Company.

AMJ handled our recent move from Ontario to the east coast. Every aspect of the move, from the estimation process to the loading and through the unloading was excellent. Our driver, Tom, was fantastic. He was experienced, customer-focused, friendly and efficient. His crews on both ends were great. Our estimated and actual weight of goods moved was within a few hundred pounds, so we didn't have to worry about overage fees. I would highly recommend AMJ.
