Sensory Overload, is what I could say about this place. To describe how wonderful it was to dine here could not be done properly on this format. To start we were seated across from the kitchen where we could see the Sou Cheff and the staff preparing our meals and others. It felt as if we were part of the kitchen cooking it with them. Hearing the food sizzle, was food ADMR to me. When I saw the staff cooking, I didn't see a restaurant I saw a well-executed machine of people creating exquisite food. There was not wasted space or time with their staff. Then you have the serving staff, our waiter Roman was very knowledgeable of not only the menu but the taste and what to expect from the food. You can tell he has eaten and enjoyed the food their himself. Now for the food, we started off with a small plate of two fried potatoes to start off your taste buds and prime them for what is to come. Our appetizer was the Hamachi which was yellow fin tuna in a mixture of flavors on a tostada. All the flavors combined excellently and completement each other. We followed that up with Pulop (octopus) Sopes. The Pulpo was cooked to perfection, and it was soo tender not chewy at all. The main was the Short Rib Barbacoa which paired with their wonderful fresh tortillas made excellent tacos. I originally went in not wanting desert but after eating those wonderful decadent offerings I could not pass up the chance to try fresh homemade vanilla. The dessert came in two plates one was vanilla with caviar which at first you don't think much of, but once you take a spoon full your eyes open wide and you taste the Sweet and Savory mix of the fresh vanilla ice cream and the savoriness of the caviar. The second plate was a vanilla foam which hid a strawberry sorbet which I should of ate first because it could not follow up against the caviar. One last surprise was when the staff brought me a Flan with a candle to celebrate my 40th birthday. I am not a fan of flan but this was great, very silky and buttery flan. All in all everything was very well executed by the staff, i did not feel ignored and was treated exceptionally. I look forward to coming back with my wife and also taking friend's so they can enjoy it like it did. Thank you to the staff at Mayahuel for a wonderful night, definitely a birthday to remember.

I came here for dinner on Saturday and had a wonderful experience! From the warm greeting by the young man at the hostess stand, to the wonderful service from the sommelier Alex, and the exceptional service from our waiter Javier, everything was 10/10. We had a prime table right by the open kitchen, and loved the views. The restaurant decor and ambiance was exactly the romantic vibe I was looking for. Perfect for date night! But the star of the show is their food and beverage program. Javier explained the menu to us in depth before taking our order. We got a mezcal drink to start I can’t remember the name though but it was pink and tasted amazing! Not usually a mezcal fan, but I was a fan of this. I got a prickly pear cocktail as well that was pretty good. The mezcal one was the best though. Now for the food: we got the tuna tostada, short rib croquets, short rib entree, and cochinita. I was between the carnitas and the cochinita and Javier recommended the cochinita. I’m so thankful for his rec bc the cochinita was so tasty! I asked for a side of the green salsa on the side, and it enhanced it so well. The tortillas were amazing too and complemented the dish so well. We also ordered the short rib, and my dining partner really enjoyed that and thought the sweet potato complemented it perfectly. The short rib croquets were tasty as well. The tuna tostada was our favorite bite of the night! I will be coming back for this alone! Lol Special shoutout to Javier because we were having such a great time, we lost track of time, and were pushing up on our after dinner reservation time. I advised Javier of the time we had another reservation, and he made it a point to ensure we were good on time for our next stop!

This place is good but nothing special. Service was just ok - we waited long times for water several times. The food was pretty good, I’ve listed the items we ordered below with asterisks to indicate what we enjoyed:

- Croquetas de Short Rib*
- Avocado & Sikil P’aak*
- Adobo Chicken Tinga Quesadillas
- Carne Asada*

I’d say this place is worth trying but not sure it’s worth coming back to

Update:
I came back and it was a true culinary experience!
Every dish, every bite, every sip is a journey of flavors.
We came to celebrate my friend’s birthday, and we had one of the most truly amazing diner experiences.
Our server Adam was so knowledgeable, he knows the menu and every dish like the palm of his hand, and that made our diner experience so delightful.

This time we ordered “family style”, several plates and we shared.

The chef sent a palate cleanser, mini empanadas with flor de calabaza, the masa tasted like Mexico ❤️

Sope de Pulpo (Octopus sope) and Tostada de Atún (Tuna tostada) were our appetizers and we enjoyed every bite, the Sope de Pulpo was my favorite 😉

For diner we got the Carne Asada for 2 and Cochinita Pibil, I was hesitant about the last one because my mom makes a mean Cochinita Pibil, but the Chef didn’t disappoint 😊 it felt like home!

Our drinks were so good, I ordered again Metstli (mezcal drink), I love it.

When you come, you have the option of park yourself at the parking garage for a very small fee or use the valet ($8).

Don’t forget, reservation is a must!

This is a high end restaurant and dressing appropriate is appreciated.

Enjoy your diner experience at Mayahuel!

I had higher hopes for Mayahuel with all the hype around it and even someone who has visited Mexico City and had almost the same type of food. Mind you we do not have any entrees, we tried a variety of tacos, had a couple cocktails and dessert. I give it a 4/5 only because I've had better/tastier "boujee" tacos for half the price.

The cocktails were delicious and worth it and the dessert too. The Cacao was recommended as our server told us that's what Chef Luis is known for so we went with his suggestion. Pretty unique and delicious so the drinks and dessert get 5 stars but like I said in the beginning - had higher hopes for the food/tacos to be more mind blowing especially for the price point. Might come back to try the entrees.
