⭐ **1 STAR — $130 LATER, MY ICE MACHINE IS STILL BROKEN AND I STILL DON’T KNOW WHAT’S WRONG WITH IT**

This has been one of the most frustrating and disappointing service experiences I’ve had.

A technician from Appliance Repair Stars came to my business on **August 14** to diagnose our ice machine. He did not repair it—which, frankly, would not have been the problem if I had at least been given a clear diagnosis and told what needed to be done next.

Instead, I was told there was an issue and that they would get back to me.

They didn’t.

On **August 24**, I called to find out what the problem was and what was needed to repair the machine. The operator told me he would contact the technician.

Nothing.

I called again on **Tuesday**.

Nothing.

I called again on **Thursday**.

Still nothing.

Finally, today, after repeatedly having to chase them down for information that should have been provided in the first place, I asked for my **$130 back**.

That’s when I was told, essentially, *too bad*—the $130 was a “diagnostic fee.”

Except **what exactly was diagnosed?**

I STILL don't know what is wrong with the machine.

I STILL don't know what repair it needs.

I STILL don't know what parts are needed.

I STILL don't have an estimate.

And I STILL have a broken ice machine.

I explained this to the person I spoke with and asked to speak with the owner. I was told that the only thing he could do was “put in a request” for the owner.

So let me understand this: **you can take $130 from a customer for a diagnostic service, fail to provide the customer with the diagnosis, ignore multiple follow-up calls, and then refuse to refund the money when the customer asks for it?**

That is an unacceptable way to run a service business.

I completely understand that sometimes an appliance cannot be repaired during the initial visit. I also understand that technicians need to be paid for their time. **What I do not understand is charging a customer $130 for a diagnosis and then apparently failing to communicate the diagnosis to the customer.**

I have now spent nearly two weeks trying to get a simple answer about a piece of commercial equipment that is still sitting broken.

**$130 paid.
Multiple calls made.
Zero answers.
Zero repair.
Zero follow-through.**

If you are considering using Appliance Repair Stars, I would strongly recommend getting in writing **exactly what their diagnostic fee covers and what information you will receive before handing over your money.**

As for me, I'm done chasing them for an answer. I’ll be finding another company to actually diagnose and repair my equipment.

The technician did a quick 30-minute ignition switch replacement on my oven, and the appliance is back up and running.
However, be cautious with the initial quotes.
I was initially quoted $880 for a relatively simple repair with an inexpensive part. After pushing back, the price plummeted to $570, and finally just below $500 in exchange for a review.
While the quote was still higher than fair market value for a half-hour fix, I agreed since they were already on-site for the diagnostic (with a $90 fee for estimate).
The technician was capable, but the arbitrary pricing swings leave a bad taste.
Make sure you know what the replacement parts cost before accepting their first estimate.. especially if you have higher end appliances.

Andrii did an amazing job. He arrived on time and was professional. Explained the entire process and fixed my dryer in a timely manner. Definitely recommend him and appliance repairs.

This is the second time using Appliance Repair Stars. The first time they repaired a fan in my Sub Zero. To my surprise, Dmitriy had the part with him and it was fixed the same day I had phoned them! This time, my ice maker went out and again, it was repaired quickly and professionally. Always friendly, respectful, on time and reasonably priced. If you have an appliance that needs work, call them. You won't be sorry!

Andrii is amazing. Spent 3+ hours fixing things that a half dozen GE technicians either couldn’t or didn’t want to fix because they wanted to keep charging me for parts or hoping I would replace the refrigerator. He saved me from having to get a new fridge and saved me from throwing out yet another refrigerator and freezer full of food. Outstanding service.

I cannot recommend this company highly enough. From start to finish, the service was exceptional. They repaired my Miele washer quickly and efficiently, and the entire experience was professional, seamless, and stress-free.

The technician arrived on time, diagnosed the issue accurately, and explained everything clearly. What impressed me most was their honesty and transparency—there were no surprises, unnecessary repairs, or hidden costs. Communication throughout the process was excellent, with prompt updates and responsiveness every step of the way.

The repair was completed efficiently, and my washer has been working perfectly ever since. It's refreshing to find a company that combines technical expertise with outstanding customer service.

Professional, timely, honest, efficient, and truly customer-focused. I would not hesitate to use them again and will gladly recommend them to family and friends.

Had a great experience with Appliance Repair Stars. We needed service for our Sub-Zero refrigerator in Chicago, and the whole process was smooth from start to finish.
The technician arrived on time, diagnosed the issue quickly, and explained everything clearly before starting the repair. You can tell they have real experience working with high-end appliances and not just basic residential units.
What stood out to me most was the communication and professionalism. No guessing games, no vague answers, and no pressure. They kept us updated throughout the repair process and were very transparent about pricing and expectations.
The refrigerator has been working perfectly since the repair. It’s hard to find reliable appliance repair companies around Chicago that actually know Sub-Zero, Viking, and other premium brands, but these guys definitely do.
Highly recommend Appliance Repair Stars if you need honest and professional appliance repair service.

Poor service from start to finish. The technician was unable to communicate clearly about the problem or the work being performed, which made it difficult to understand the diagnosis or ask questions. The company relied on translation apps instead of sending someone who could explain the repair in real time. I was charged over $700, and the appliance still wasn’t fixed.

I ultimately had to hire another provider to resolve the issue. Customers deserve competent technicians, transparent pricing, and clear communication. Unfortunately, this experience fell short on all three

Called with an issue for my fridge and came out the same day. The tech Rostislav was very professional, polite, and quickly diagnosed the issue. The cost for parts and labor didn't make sense for a repair, but Rostislav was upfront about costs and recommended a replacement.

I highly recommend Appliance Repair Stars! They are responsive, professional and have thorough knowledge of various appliances from low end to high end. The technicians are super friendly and gave me great tips for preserving the life of my oven and washer/dryer. They have a maintenance membership program that I know will save me a ton of money down the road and give peace of mind.

Andrii diagnosed and fixed my Bertazzoni burner issues … an achievement some other technicians were unable to do. He did the job not only efficiently and effectively, but with a fabulously friendly and professional demeanor. I would 100% choose to contact him next time I have an appliance repair matter. My only regret is that I can’t figure a way to give him 6 Stars in this review!

Andrii was great! On time within the window provided, helpful, clean and courteous. Diagnosed and fixed the issue for our Frigidaire stove top. I'll be calling back if I have another appliance need.
