Extremely disappointing follow-up and customer service

We had Roto-Rooter come out over a month ago after we had a water leak. They brought in 12 fans and 2 dehumidifiers to dry everything out and told us the equipment would be picked up within four days.

It has now been over a month, and getting someone to simply come pick up their equipment has been incredibly frustrating. I have called at least five different times asking for someone to contact me and arrange pickup. I have also specifically requested to speak with a supervisor multiple times and have received no response.

After my fourth call, one of the service technicians finally texted me about picking up the equipment. When he arrived, he said he had been told he was picking up fans. We explained that there were actually 12 fans and 2 dehumidifiers. He said he couldn’t fit everything in his truck, so he only took approximately half of the equipment and left the rest. He told us someone would return on Sunday to pick up the remaining equipment.

I waited around all day Sunday, and no one showed up. No one called or texted to let us know they weren’t coming.

Since then, I have called twice more asking for someone to contact me, and once again, I have received no response.

I understand that things happen and schedules can get complicated, but this is a basic follow-up that should have been handled weeks ago. We have been extremely patient and have made numerous attempts to get this resolved, yet we are still left with Roto-Rooter’s equipment in our home with no clear communication about when it will actually be picked up.

The lack of communication, accountability, and follow-through has been incredibly disappointing. At this point, I simply want someone to take responsibility, contact us, and arrange a time to retrieve the equipment.

Chris and Luke came out to repair a failed expansion tank for my water heater. They made sure to cover their feet before entering the house, and were very courteous. They made an estimate, which I accepted. They acquired some parts they didn't have, and made the repair. I was very happy with the service, and the price was reasonable after an available discount.

Thankful Review for Chris B & Matt W
Matt W came and cleaned out our drains. He was very efficient, friendly, and professional.

Chris B then came out to do a camera review of our pipes to see what current and preventative measures we may need to take. He was absolutely amazing! My fiancé and I are first time homeowners, and the pipes and plumbing can be some of the scariest parts of owning a home. Chris went above and beyond by taking the time to discuss what we were seeing on the camera, explaining the process, and laid out possible options. It did not feel like a salesman just here to sell us a pitch, but a person who genuinely listened to our concerns and laid it all out in a way we could understand.

Thank you so much to both of these gentleman for making this scary, stressful situation feel much more manageable!

Chris Browning supervised 6 different co-workers from Roto Rooter to help identify our issues (including a handful we were not aware of). He was extremely informative, had the utmost patience with our questions and concisely outlined all of our options and related costs. He essentially educated us to where we could make the best decision possible.

Chris DID NOT try to “sell” us anything - his role was as a professional advisor. Hats off as well to Roto Rooter as an organization - all of these 7 people that worked / inspected the job (which was several thousand dollars) were professional and well skilled…good people are not easy to find.

While this was an expensive repair, it was necessary and we feel with the ongoing maintenance they recommend, we will hopefully have mitigated the risk of much more expensive problems in the future.

And most importantly, they came within 2 hours of our call to request service.

Washer drain got clogged, so we decided to call Roto Rooter for service. We have used this company in the past and have always received very good service. Today, was not of the normal experience that we have had in the past. Technician Brad showed up late. I was notified that the tech was running behind schedule so I won't hold that against them, but I think it should be mentioned in this review. In the past, I have been explained everything up front before the work was started including price. None of that was done today. I asked 3 times how much it was going to cost, and was ignored. Nothing was explained, nor was there an explanation of what caused the clog. He ran the snake for about 20 minutes and cleared the drain. I was expecting the bill to be around $200. He brought me a bill with a "discount" of $100 which came out to $399. So without the discount, less than an hour of unprofessional work would cost $500. That is an absurd amount of money to charge a repeat customer for less than 1 hour of physical work. Brad also left the work area a mess. There was debris left on the wall, and water that we needed to mop up and wipe off the wall as well. Not sure if prices have increased, but I will be sure to shop around next time.
