At first, I was impressed with Roto-Rooter because they were willing to come out on a weekend and take care of a leaking water line. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there.
During the water line repair, several sprinklers in our front yard were damaged. Some were repaired, but when I contacted them about the remaining damage, I was told it was simply “a risk of the job.”
Shortly after the water line was repaired, our water heater began leaking. I was told that fixing the water line had increased the water pressure, which caused the water heater to leak, and that replacement was our only option. We agreed to move forward with the replacement.
The job ended up taking much longer than originally quoted, and the pricing and process for the drywall and paint repairs were not what we had been led to expect. The drywall and paint work was also very expensive for the quality of work performed, which was poor.
The water heater installation then failed inspection, and I was charged again for them to remove, reset, and reinstall the water heater.
Eventually, I was able to file an insurance claim for part of the work. During that process, there were also multiple instances where it appeared we were being billed twice for the same work using different descriptions. Our insurance adjuster caught the duplicate charges, which resulted in constant back-and-forth phone calls trying to explain and correct the billing.
Eventually, everything was sorted out and all invoices were paid in full. Now, several months later, I am once again receiving calls claiming there is an unpaid invoice even though the account was previously paid in full.
Overall, this was a very frustrating experience. Between the high costs, poor-quality repair work, billing issues, lack of communication, and apparent lack of communication within their own company, I would not recommend Roto-Rooter based on our experience.

Lee was very thorough and pleasant as he completed a repair on our home. He took the time to explain what he was doing and educated us about how to check our plumbing components annually. Plus he was excellent with our unfriendly cat!

Today two technicians came in to attach a bidet to our toilet. One's name was James (or Jamie.) Job was completed and I paid approximately $400.
After the two men left, I flushed the toilet and water leaked out on the floor from one side of the toilet - a lot of water; so much that I was afraid to use the toilet for fear that it will continue to flood my floor. Since this event occurred right after this job was done by these two technicians, I called the same company asking to have someone fix the issue that same evening. The technicians came back with 'not my fault' type of philosophy.
So they charged me approximately $200 in addition to the initial charge of $400.
I own my business. I know about customer service. In addition, I've also worked as a sales person years back. Today's experience saddened me - it is becoming more and more depressing to live in this world that teaches people to lack accountability and devalue customers without any remorse.
Here's the reality of life: even if the water leakage after completion of the plumbing job is not your fault, you should still cherish your customers because they bring you business. For example, part of cherishing customers when I was a sales person years back was making them feel valued. One way to make customers feel valued was by not charging them in situations similar to the one I just described (regardless of who was at 'fault'.)
It's okay to make mistakes, we're all human. It's also okay if you think your customer is wrong and you are correct. The bottom line is: cherish your customer who engages in business with you, don't devalue someone you serve.
The note I write here is not so much about being grossly overcharged. It is more about the principle.

Vance was excellent! He was out here in a timely manner and got our clogged drain flowing quickly! I will have to say I’m impressed with how clean everything was as well when he left. Such a pleasure, I am definitely a customer for life!

Rick and Bryce came quickly to replace a shower for us. They were very informative and kept us in the loop the entire time and had positive attitudes despite many problems that arose (with our older plumbing). They got the job done quickly and efficiently and we couldn’t be more grateful! Highly recommend.
