We paid a lot for the full ocean view, which was beautiful, but the location was not private at all. There were several people living in vans directly across the road blaring music and going to the bathroom in the grass. I wouldn't have stayed in that room if I had known it would not be quiet or private. Bed was rock hard and there were several stains and brown looking things on the rug.
Front desk was generally understaffed. They don't allow you to carry your own luggage or get your own beach chairs; you're expected to utilize (and tip) the bellhop for amenities you're already paying for in the resort fee. Bellhop was helpful, but immediately started talking about politics which I don't love talking about on my first day of vacation.
The best part was definitely the pool. It was beautiful, heated well, and clean. Unfortunately it was only open until 9pm.

As a Hilton Diamond member, this is the second-worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort has almost no signage showing where to enter. The lobby sits behind what feels like a fortress wall once you finally figure out how to get onto the property. Everyone is forced to take a ticket at the gate, and the guardhouse is empty.
I arrived at 2:00 PM and there was no room available. By 4:00 PM I still had no room and no text. I went to the lobby at 4:15 PM and was finally given a room. When I entered, it had not been cleaned. See photos.
I called the front desk and was put on hold twice for 20 minutes; both times the call hung up. I went back to the lobby at 4:57 PM and spoke with Angela, who was very understanding, showed real empathy, and tried to make the situation better. I then waited in the hallway until the room was actually cleaned and ready.
Once inside, I tried to connect to Wi-Fi and kept getting an error that the room number and last name did not match. I called the front desk again about the Wi-Fi and learned I still wasn’t fully checked in.
I booked a room with a semi-view of the ocean. What I got was foliage and trucks blocking it. A section of the parking lot is blocked off because that side of the hotel has become part of a movie set.
I also noticed their room-number system is very unique. I was in room 466, which is on the 2nd floor of the Bougainvillea building. Under normal circumstances the first number identifies the floor.
Poor arrival experience, an advertised ocean view that isn’t one, confusing room numbering, unclean room, long holds that drop, and a check-in/Wi-Fi system that doesn’t work. Angela was the only bright spot. I expected far more from a Diamond stay at a beachfront Hilton.

We paid over $900 for one night and expected a relaxing start to our stay. Unfortunately, that wasn’t our experience.
When we returned to our room around 8:45 p.m., we discovered that the air conditioning wasn’t working. We contacted the front desk several times, but maintenance didn’t arrive until 10:12 p.m.—more than an hour after we first reported the issue. What made the experience especially frustrating was that the repair itself took only about five minutes.
We were traveling with our toddler, who normally goes to bed around 9:00 p.m. Because we couldn’t comfortably settle into the room until the AC was fixed, she didn’t fall asleep until around 10:40 p.m. Instead of relaxing after a long day and enjoying the first evening of our stay, we spent it repeatedly calling the front desk and waiting for a basic room issue to be resolved.
We appreciate that the front desk waived the resort fee after we shared our experience, and we thank them for that gesture. However, it didn’t make up for the lost time or the disruption to our first night.
We understand that maintenance issues can happen at any hotel. What disappointed us wasn’t the broken air conditioning—it was the response time. A repair that took only about five minutes ended up costing us more than an hour of our evening. For a stay that cost over $900 for one night, we expected much faster service, better communication, and a level of service that matched the price we paid.

Stayed at the Hilton for 5 days for a business meeting/conference organized at the hotel. Disregarding the service and price the hotel is great: the beach is right in front of it, the pool and hot tub are great alternatives, the rooms are big and the beds are comfy.
The service though is not great... (1) When I arrived in the room the bottle of red wine was half empty, I warned the front desk who told me that they took note in their system and I will not be charged when checking out. When checking out I reconfirmed this information with the front desk again. Few hours after leaving the hotel, I get charged $53 for that bottle. It took me a week and several phone calls to get reimbursed. (2) Both my phone and laptop devices were not connecting to the wifi at the beginning and the front desk did not provide me any alternative than calling a service external to the hotel (I was not the only person in this situation). (3) I have booked the hotel with a business card and I was expecting to pay only the incidentals. Unfortunately they wanted the business card which I did not have. At the end the financial service of the hotel helped me figure out how to make the right changes. (4) A few other small things.
Overall, for a hotel that one pays over $2k for 5 nights I expect these details to not happen. Maybe I was crazy unlucky but I felt that the hotel is trying to make as much money as possible out of their customers (e.g. $20 resort fee per day).

We wanted a getaway for a couples days in Santa Barbara so we stayed at that Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort.
The location is good; it’s by the ocean and down the street from Stearns Wharf.
The property is big; there are a few separate buildings. Almost like an apartment complex. The rooms were cleaned but the hallways smelled like manure/fertilizer. I’m guessing since it’s springtime they were attending to the landscaping. When we checked in, we chose no housekeeping since we would only be there for 2 days, but they cleaned our room anyway. Housekeeping was very friendly.
We were there celebrating a birthday, and I asked if they could leave a cupcake or small pasty in our room and they did do that, which was very nice.
My only complaint was the parking:
Beware that they will charge you a daily parking fee of 42.00 a day and do not tell you that you’re being charged. I only found out when I looked at my credit card bill. On my final hotel bill there was an extra 44.92 charge and when I called, they said it was a credit and it would show on my credit card bill, it didn’t so I will be disputing that charge. They Lady was a little dismissive and told me that it was credited and I needed to work it out with the credit card company. Trust me, I will.
Next trip to Santa Barbara I would NOT stay here again, only because of the surprise parking charges of 42.00 a day and the extra 44.92 which I have no idea what it was for. I feel like when you check in they should tell you of that extra charge.
