Update: In May of 2025 I had to cancel my account with KeyBank. KeyBank took it upon themselves to cancel my credit card without my knowledge. Never even got a letter of cancellation the only way I found out they cancelled my card in April of 2025 was from a credit alert from BMO bank credit monitoring service. Needless to say I was pisst and called to find out why this action happened. Was told because I had not used the card for a couple of years is why and to prevent credit card fraud. I would have used the card if told to do so! Heck, I have one credit card I haven't used in 3 years and never had issues with the bank of issue. With that said.

I, proceeded to cancel my other account a reserve line of credit. As I don't appreciate them cancelling things without my knowledge or consent. So, unfortunately KeyBank and me are no more. I do thank you for what service was provided, but don't like the shady way my credit card was cancelled.

I started out with Key Bank in May of 2017 with two financial products one being a credit card, and a personal line of credit of $4000. The employees at the branch were okay for the time when I was still living in Denver, CO. then I moved to Minnesota in 2019. My only gripe here is when I tried to increase the credit line that I have with them from $4000 was given the "run around" on how to do it. The credit card I had increased with no problem, but the credit line doesn't have a way to increase it. Called two different branches in Denver as Minnesota doesn't have Key Bank branches. Still to this day can't increase the credit limit on this line of credit, and Key has no clue either. Granted, it is a unique financial product that Key offered in 2017, but still this is ridiculous.

These guys have gone above and beyond for me. I have moved from Englewood to Boulder to Longmont to Westminster, for work for personal reasons (my mother had a major heart attack in February) and I'm studying to take the MBLex (state test to become a massage therapist). Like I said, these guys, Dylan especially, have helped me so much. I am so grateful to Key Bank and the folks at the S. Colorado Blvd. branch. Thank you, the last 3 years have been really tough. Like I said, I have been living hand to mouth. Gas is the bane of my existence.

I went here the other night after work, right before they closed and was helped by Michael Sanderson.
I was at a branch in Parker the night before and was very frustrated after I left and had wished I didn’t choose to open an account. Then, after being helped by Michael in this situation that was somewhat messy due to me losing most of my life’s documents in a fire, I realized God had a plan. Michael not only assisted me to the fullest possible (and, a little past closing time) he was also quick in communicating with me and reaching out to me throughout the process!
He’s one of those rare people that God sends to you when he knows your plate is full and you just can’t take anymore-you know, like an ANGEL! I’m glad I didn’t lose my temper the night before and close the account as planned!
If you need assistance, it’s worth visiting this branch and asking for Michael-I also heard the banker next to him that night with the customers and he sounded extremely helpful and pleasant, too!

KeyBank is the absolute worst bank I have ever used in my life. The ATM machine at this branch ate my card and gave me a message saying "one moment please" for several minutes, I called customer support and of course it was just a bunch of people in another country who could barely speak english and were absolutely useless. Their only advice was to use another card, but the people at the KeyBank branch convinced me to consolidate all my banking with them so I had to use my emergency credit card to get home. Meanwhile, my debit card is locked because they said the ATM could spit it out at any minute throughout the night. I would advise anyone who is considering a KeyBank account to start one somewhere else, this place has been nothing but a complete mess ever since I signed up.

I have never had a worse experience with a bank. I have been trying to close my account since November with no luck. It is amazing the fees that suddenly appear to make my account, which is at $0 for closing purposes, negative! I continue to owe Key money in fees because they refuse to close my account in a timely and efficient manner. I'm contacting the Better Business Bureau today because I don't know what else to do. Has anyone else had an experience with Key where they refuse to close a zeroed out account but continue to assess fees?
