Did not have a great experience with Dr. Cameron. He was more of a salesman than a vet for our two cats. He would frequently add on additional services without our consent (additional shots and tinctures). He even tried to sign our cat up to do red light therapy. He was quite pushy, we had to repeatedly tell him NO. He told us AFTER we got $600 x-rays that he was unable to interpret them and we would need to pay additional few hundred dollars for a radiologist. Why could you not tell us that before?

Reception tried to charge us a “no show fee” for an appointment we never booked. She told us that we booked by phone and I had to send my call history to prove that we never booked an appointment or talked with them on the phone. She told us that we were taking time away from others that needed it. We never booked anything, how is this on us?

All staff have referred to my partner and I as the “mommy” and “daddy” of our pets. This made me uncomfortable and felt like a tactic to get you to opt in to additional services. ie. Your cat should do red light therapy. Don’t you want the best for your cat as their “mommy”?

I’m sure that if you are just going for yearly check-ups, then they are probably fine. If your pets have health problems, be prepared for lack of transparency, outrageous prices and guilt tripping.

I’ve had mixed experiences at Westboro Animal Hospital. The vets and staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. However, all costs of a vaccine were not forthright when being discussed, and front staff were disorganized. We were given wrong medication for our dog that could’ve been extremely harmful if mistakenly given, and staff had issues finding or understanding invoices, which lead to me needing to come back to pay or charged more than initially thought.

I voiced my issues with a manager and we were able to find a resolution. The manager was very respectful and understanding, and took accountability for my disappointing experiences, I really appreciated that. The manager also recommended that next time, I ask the vet of what other costs are associated with a vaccine. I personally don’t think this is the client’s responsibility, vets should be upfront with all costs as they’re the ones who know more about what’s being given to our pets. If I asked for a price, I should be given the full cost of the vaccine, vet tech fee, and booster cost, not just the vaccine cost. It was also an optional vaccine that my dogs didn’t need to have, but we felt it would provide them with even more safety on top of our current dog care.

If you choose to go to this hospital, make sure you discuss in depth of the cost of care before you agree and pay. Make sure you read the labels before taking home medication.

This location is amazing. They fit you in if you have a semi emergency. They are very attentive to our loving pets. They offer sound advice and you never feel pressured or guilted for how you care for your pet. They don't push for upselling. I've been a client with my first dog and dog my two other dogs over the last 17 years. All the technicians and Dr. are amazing.. Shout out to Dr. Cameron 👌

Possibly the best Veterinarian care a pet parent could ever have in Ottawa. Dr Cameron is possibly the best vet in Ottawa, bubbles has been going here since she was 9 weeks old, she is 16 and I month now. Ian regularly and accurately diagnosed bubbles ailments 100% of the time. Thank God we found this company, the staff are amazing and friendly too.
