It was a great location to downtown. Breakfast was very good in the morning, but it is a buffet, not a served breakfast. The room was nice, a little cut up, and not a great view out any windows. We could hear the neighbors in the room connected to our room. The breakfast hosts were very friendly and very accommodating each morning.

Kennebunkport Captains Collection is an absolutely amazing property, and we had such a wonderful stay. Our room was beautiful, incredibly comfortable, and full of historic charm. I especially loved that the bedrooms retain the character and feel of a historic mansion, while the bathrooms are beautifully updated, modern, spacious, and very well appointed. The bed was extremely comfortable as well. It’s the perfect combination of history and modern luxury.

Every member of the staff we encountered was wonderful and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and ensure we had everything we needed throughout our stay.

The location is fantastic. We were able to walk almost everywhere we wanted to go, which made exploring Kennebunkport so easy and enjoyable. Yet despite being so close to everything, the property was wonderfully quiet and felt peaceful and private. It really gives you the best of both worlds.

Breakfast each morning was delicious, and one of my favorite parts of our stay was sitting outside on the lawn enjoying breakfast. It was such a beautiful and peaceful way to start the day and made the whole experience feel even more special.

The property itself is gorgeous, the attention to detail is wonderful, and you truly feel like you’re staying somewhere unique rather than at a typical hotel. We absolutely loved our stay and would happily return. Five stars!

My wife and I had a great experience at the Nathaniel Lord Mansion. We were treated like friends by Patty and the rest of the staff. Our room was the best we have ever experienced, and breakfast was delicious. The mansion is located perfectly and allows for short walks to Dock Square and Ocean Ave. We recommend taking the walk towards the ocean as the sun sets. We would give more stars if we could. First time to Kennebunkport. Was a great hotel stay for what we were looking for between my fiance and I along with our pup. The hotel room was a pet friendly one, so perhaps other rooms may not need a little more tlc in general. Everything was very clean. The location was incredible. I’d give this a 4.5 if I could. Check in and all staff are super friendly. It’s very much a self service hotel vs being serviced. Getting your own items such as extra beach towels/chairs/bikes, making your own breakfast, coffee, etc. If you are looking for a more upscale stay where staff will take your bags from pulling up, valet, a proper dining room and service, this isn’t the place. If you want to be left alone, have your own airbnb style spot at the property, this is what it felt more like. Not good or bad, but just manage your expectations. Would go back at the right price and thank you for having us!

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Kennebunkport Captain's Collection. The property is beautiful, full of historic charm, and the rooms have a rustic-meets-Restoration-Hardware feel that fits the character of the home. The grounds are lovely and well maintained, creating a peaceful atmosphere. We also appreciated the complimentary bicycles available for guests, the dedicated yoga space inside the restored barn, and the free on-site parking, which was a great convenience in Kennebunkport. Housekeeping did an excellent job keeping our room clean and tidy throughout our stay.

There were, however, a few things that kept this from being a five-star experience.

First, be aware that there is no elevator. We were assigned a room on the third floor, and the property is not handicap-friendly. While the staff kindly offered to help with our luggage, all of the staff members on duty were women, and my husband ultimately carried all of our heavy luggage himself. At this price point, we believe luggage assistance should be be included and guaranteed rather than simply offered if someone happens to be available.

The complimentary fruit bowl was also disappointing. When we arrived, much of the fruit was already overripe, and it was never replenished during our stay. Likewise, there were several mornings when the coffee station was running low or was missing milk and half-and-half. These are small details, but they're the kinds of touches guests notice, especially at a luxury bed and breakfast.

Despite those issues, the property itself is charming, well maintained, and conveniently located within walking distance of downtown Kennebunkport. With a little more attention to the guest amenities and service details, this could easily be a five-star experience.
