Protein Bar & Kitchen is a surprising blend of delicious and nutritious. In a fast food world dominated by fats and carbs, Protein Bar shakes things up with over 15 grams of protein in all entrees & shakes. It’s not fast food, it’s fast fuel and I had my order lickety-split, within two minutes of placement.

Food
Five stars for a Chicago-born, eclectic blend of ingredients making the difference between very good and gourmet. Packed with 29 grams of protein, the Korean-inspired steak and Seoul bowl tasted like a chef-inspired blend of spicy aioli kick with a crunch of fermented kimchi and zing of pickled red onions. The organic vegetables were five star fresh. I like that the menu shows the macronutrient information because protein is the gaping hole in the modern American Diet. Carbs rev you up then crash you down; in contrast, this meal delivered staying power for the rest of the day.

Service
I like that Protein bar & kitchen takes cash. Minus two stars for service because the customer experience is mindless corporate clock punchers. No social connection, no friendliness and personality, just, “here’s your food.” That's life in the big city. However, three stars for at least calling you by name, not order number. Corporate chains treat you like a number, local gems call you by name.

Atmosphere
Four stars for cleanliness, free water, but a wee bit sparse on comforts, you’re not going to want to linger here but they do have a variety of seating options for solo diners, pairs, or groups over four our more. Admittedly, the atmosphere is nuanced by the inescapable fact that this Protein Bar is located in a hospital. Among well-known chains like Subway and Panera Bread in the food court at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Protein Bar is a delightfully different non-corporate choice premised on the power of protein for a healthful diet.

The green goddess salad tasted awesome and the chicken chilli bowl was jam packed with flavor this is a must try restaurant 😋 I only wished they had some crackers to go with the chilli. Located inside on the second floor food court

Review written 01/20/2025. Some of the best food I’ve ever had in my life. I got a 2nd bowl to go to take home. Absolutely decisions. Fresh. Customizations available. For example I swapped out chicken to get tofu as a vegetarian. They have a rewards program through the app.
