I never leave negative reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough that I feel obligated to warn others considering the tasting menu.

The restaurant advertises a 10–12 course tasting menu for $160 per person. Unfortunately, what we received was nowhere close to that. For two people, we were served a small salad to share, bread with hummus and baba ghanoush to share, one small piece of charcuterie each, one small lamb meatball each, one small shrimp each (and empty shrimp shells for show), and a small dessert each. Based on photos from other recent reviews, it honestly seemed as though we may have missed a course, as other guests appeared to receive significantly more food and variety.

What made the experience even more frustrating was the pacing. We were frequently left waiting 20–30 minutes between courses, only for the next “course” to consist of a single small bite. I have enjoyed tasting menus at many fine dining restaurants, and this was by far the most underwhelming experience I’ve experienced. The wait staff, however, was incredible in their service with refilling waters and cleaning the table.

The biggest issue is that the meal simply did not match the 10–12 dish tasting menu being advertised. Had we ordered the individual items we were served à la carte, we could have purchased several full portions, spent far less money, and left satisfied. Instead, we paid $320 before tax for two people and left feeling hungry, disappointed, and genuinely wondering whether we had been served the correct menu.

I am sharing this review because I wish someone had warned me beforehand. If you choose to dine here, I would strongly recommend avoiding the tasting menu unless the restaurant can clearly explain how what is served aligns with what is being advertised. I’ve included photos showing everything we received for two people at a cost of $320 (before tax) so others can make an informed decision.

Takes dishes I used to eat as a palestinian kid at home to new heights. I know its authentic syrian but all levant cuisine is similar so it brough back many memories. The falafel and hummus was so smooth and packed with flavour. The fatoush was one of the best I ever had, it shined more than expected. The Mulokhia with cofit duck was great but the slightly burnt garlic taste, although some like it, was not my favourite but im only nit picking at this point as it was also really good and the duck was cooked to perfection. The cocktails were unique and so good that I would chugg it unconciously if I wasnt paying attention. The kunafah for dessert was also very nice. I want to come to try new dishes.

The food was so comforting and delicious.
Really well made, bold flavours and definitely bigger portions than we expected.
Very beautifully decorated, great service as expected.
We usually order desert but we were so full that we decided to go back another day to try that menu out.
Overall, very good experience. Would definitely come back!

We went to Damas to celebrate a birthday this weekend and had such a wonderful lunch. We were lucky enough to have the incredible Tessie as our waitress. Her warm energy, beautiful personality and friendly suggestions made our first experience at Damas nothing short of amazing. We decided to go for a 3 course meal because we absolutely wanted dessert, but we would’ve easily been more than satisfied with 2 courses as the portions are extremely generous. We started with their akawi and lamb fatayer, as well as their lamb kibbeh nayyeh, had the ribeye with the ottoman eggs and the shish taouk for our main courses and for dessert (there’s always room for dessert!) we chose the halva french toast as well as the classic halawet el jebn. The presentation of every plate was breathtaking, as you can see below. The flavours are so well thought out, the meat was seasoned and cooked to perfection & their crispy potatoes will have you pushing your limits for one more bite. The most surprising part for me was that, despite the very generous portions, we didn’t even get a to go box because of how good the food was. It’s one of those places you’re planning your next visit before you even finish eating. It’s really THAT good.

The food itself is exceptional. Flavours are unique and on point, and everything is cooked very well (for the price point, would hope so!). Would recommend the tasting menu. The interior decor is also well appointed. Was slightly disappointed in the service as they forgot orders / items multiple times.

The dishes were high quality and the service was fantastic. Our server, George, was attentive, kind, and very helpful in guiding us through the menu options. The food was served quickly, and everything was excellent.
We ordered the baba ghanoush as a starter, followed by the eggplant lamb kebab and the lamb shank, all of which were delicious.
It’s on the pricier side, so it’s a great choice for a special occasion.

Probably my favourite restaurant in Montreal. Stand outs were the Rack of lamb, and lamb dumplings (Shish Borek). Even the ice cream with cotton candy was unique and memorable. Service was impeccable. Rack of lamb took awhile to come out but not an issue given how good the food was. Highly recommend

Damas offers a brunch experience that is as curated as it is flavorful, blending influences from both Eastern and Western cultures for a unique culinary adventure. The restaurant operates on a set-price menu, starting at $55, with additional charges depending on your selections. While it would be nice to see an a la carte option, the structured menu ensures each dish is thoughtfully prepared and cohesive.

The coffee is a standout, beautifully brewed and aromatic, setting the stage for the meal ahead. The dishes themselves are vibrant, richly spiced, and layered with flavor, making for a wonderful introduction to Syrian cuisine. Each bite is carefully balanced, showcasing both boldness and nuance without ever feeling overwhelming.

The ambiance enhances the experience: warm wood tones, magical lighting, and cozy decor create a welcoming and almost enchanting atmosphere that complements the food beautifully.

Overall, Damas delivers a brunch that is flavorful, memorable, and culturally immersive. For those seeking a thoughtful introduction to Syrian cuisine with a touch of cross-cultural flair, it’s a satisfying and elevated way to spend the morning.

Food here was very tasty but definitely on the pricey side. Whether it’s worth the money is entirely up to the individual. I found the food and service to be pleasing. Nothing disappointed me and the restaurant had a very clean environment which I appreciate. Everything tasted good but nothing really blew us away. It was simply just good eats. We spent about $85-90 per person (no alcohol) with a group of 4. Can you get more food for a quarter of the price elsewhere, yes… but if you’re in the mood for a nice, cozy evening with close friends, you can’t go wrong here.

I was looking forward to trying this place for a while based on the all the hype around it but it was an utter disappointment.

1. When we told 2 servers the fatoush was so acidic that we couldn't finish it, the response was l will let the chef know. Seriously? When we said it was inedibly sour that is all you got? All the sweet talk is meaningless. They just want tips which they don't really deserve to be very frank.
2. The person who ate the kebab said it was very average. There was no wow factor in it.
3. The Baba ganoush was the only redeeming factor. But not worth $35 plus tax
4. Not many vegan and gluten free options. Menu is very meat centered.
5. Service was good until problem resolution test kicked in where the serve r failed miserably. She looked at our bag and because we took the fatoush home to add more veggies to make it less acidic, chose to walk away doing nothing. We do not waste food. So if you judged why we took it away, it is because we needed to modify your kitchen's careless recipe and again $35 for simple lettuce with tons of bottled lemon juice and 6 seeds of pomegranate and sumac and molasses IS NOT JUSTIFIED.

Service 2/5 for attention but 1/5 for actual customer care, food overhyped for the quality and price 1.5/5, unnecessarily hyped up and lacking balance is what l what summarize Damas. Not returning and not recommended. There are places where you feel $150 with tips and tax for 2 is justified. DAMAS isn't one of those. Lemon juice thrown in 10x isn't the work of a skilled chef but shows his lack of prudence in exercising his quality control. Very very disappointed 😞 Overhyped and over rated. Please save your money and eat elsewhere. You shall thank me later.

We went to Damas to celebrate our anniversary and it was such a wonderful experience. We chose the tasting menu, and I really appreciated how the staff explained each dish as it was served — it made the evening feel even more special.

The food was incredible. My absolute favorites were the lamb and the Crevettes Kunafa — both were packed with flavor and perfectly prepared.

The atmosphere is warm yet elegant, and the service was attentive without being overwhelming. Honestly, it was the perfect place for our celebration, and I’d go back without hesitation.

I went here based on a recommendation and am very impressed and this is o e of the best middle eastern restaurants in North America. I ordered the course menu for $125 and loved it. Everything was perfect and Gabriel was a huge help.

This restaurant is overpriced and overrated.

We ordered the tasting menu and, while the food wasn’t bad, it was underwhelming. The fattoush was far too lemony, and the wine pairing added very little to the overall experience. We were given more detailed explanations about the wines than the food, and by the end, I honestly felt like I drank more than I ate.

They also served some extremely bitter olives, which I personally didn’t enjoy at all.

The place was so crowded and loud that I had to practically shout just to talk to my partner. It didn’t feel romantic at all, and that really took away from the experience. At times, it felt like the person at the next table was about to pull up a chair and join our conversation.

We paid $770.00 for the evening, and for that kind of price, you expect a well-rounded experience: well-executed food, wine that truly complements the meal, a pleasant atmosphere, and attentive service. It’s about balance.

In short: not worth it. The experience fell well below expectations.

An unforgettable culinary journey! Dining at Damas was like being transported to the heart of Syria. Every dish was bursting with exotic spices, vibrant flavors, and stunning presentation. The atmosphere was elegant yet welcoming, and the service was outstanding—from the moment we arrived, the staff went out of their way to help us lift our stroller into the restaurant. A truly thoughtful touch that set the tone for an amazing evening. One of Montreal’s finest dining experiences—an absolute must-visit!

One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. Damas truly lives up to its reputation as one of the top restaurants in the city. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting—elegant without being pretentious. The service was attentive and thoughtful, making us feel genuinely cared for throughout the meal.

The food? Exceptional. The variety and freshness of the dips, the perfectly grilled octopus, the tender and flavorful shish taouk chicken—all served with warm, fluffy pitas that we couldn’t get enough of. Every bite was rich with bold, balanced flavors that spoke to the quality and authenticity of the cuisine.

It’s no surprise this place is so highly rated. I’m beyond impressed and would recommend Damas to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience.

The restaurant was beautiful. The service was incredible. And the food was absolutely amazing. Our server made a few recommendations and was very honest when he thought we might be ordering too much. He was spot on with the dishes he told us to try and with the number of plates we should get.

The cocktails were fantastic - very fresh and refreshing. The desserts were super unique—you just save some space for them!

Seriously good food and beautifully presented!
We loved every bite of everything and the drinks are wonderful.
On the pricey side.
The restaurant was a bit louder than we had expected and less on the romantic side, though very nice.
The staff was nice, but not overly nice. We had mentioned it’s our 20th wedding anniversary and they didn’t care which was a bit odd to us.
For starters we shared the Hummus! It was absolutely scrumptious.
For the main we got the grilled meat platter for two- it was delish and plenty of food!
We were very full after our meal.
